OOTP '12 Questions

Post by Cnasty »

Being that me and kdog will do the most question asking, I wanted to make a thread for any questions that the vets can answer or our fearless leader.

For the life of me I can not find how to do a contract extension with a player.

I right clicked on the name like Shel said, transaction and there is not an option of anything contract extension.
I clicked on their profile and didnt see it anywhere on there either.

Am I not allowed to at this time or what?

After you are in their profile you need to click "Contract & Status" or something like that which is on the bar above their name, I believe.

You know there is an online manual with a search function, right?

You sure you in the right spot? lol

Looking at my roster right now, right clicking on every player, every one of them have a "Offer Extension" I can click on.

I'll bring my questions in the other thread here:

Maybe someone can help me out here as the OOTP 12 manual seems to be wrong and is different from the game.

The manual talks about mutual option years, which I don't see. No big deal, whatever.

Now here are my questions, can someone explain the vesting option and the buyout??? Are direct me to where in the manual they explain them, cause I don't see it on that page of the manual, HERE.

I'm guessing the vesting option means you pick a number of games played or innings pitched, and if they hit that mark, the contract auto renews?

And buyout, is that a predetermined amount, so if the final year is worth $10mil with a team option, I can put a buyout of $5mil, which means I can decline the final year team option but have to pay the $5mil?

Hope I can get an answer here since no one can seem to answer my question about the loyaltly/greed/desire for winning ratings.

that contract and status tab should do it for you.

once there look around there are buttons at the bottom you can click on to either submit offer or meet demands of your particular player

Who offered that? I didnt.

Was this done prior to me possibly taking over and there is no way to pull it off the table? (Trendon)

well then he is currently in a contract then. But you should still be able to offer an extension anytime during your ownership of the team

They are also the ones that are mad and really angry :P

Players will only negotiate an extension in their last year of the current contract. That guy already has a contract beyond this year. He signed an extention for 2 years on 11/29/14 (history tab).

Ahhhh, thats whats confusing me.

Im not sure why it wouldnt show under contract information than since he is in a current contract and not any of the extension stuff. Especially since it happened last year.

I guess that shows current contract and then what is upcoming once expired. It will probably change on next sim as well to help me see it better.

Thanks Gabe

Team option: You decide to pick up the option or not
Mutual: You both decide
Vesting: They stay if they hit a certain milestone (starts, games played, hits, etc)

Yea, Gabe pointed out the history tab which made me understand why I couldnt offer an extension.

Thanks for the follow up.

Really? I was wondering about that, too. The buyout also confuses me, gotta read about that.

Yea, really wondering about the buyout before I try to extend some guys of my own.

Maybe I'll look on the forums, cause I've searched "vesting" and "buyout" in the manual, and got zero replies.
