I opened up a ticket asking about more frequent and varied crashes. Let's see if they actually respond to this one.

I'm starting to think it has something to do with my home Internet connection and this file. The three times I have updated it from another connection, it's worked like a charm. I am up-to-date right now. Therefore, I'm back in. I'll just have to take my laptop to work to update the file on sim days.

Hi Trendon,

Issue #1 most likely has to do with the size of the file. OOTP has been known to have issues with downloading when the archive size is in 100's of megabytes. I would guess that this is the case here as well. I would further guess that the file size might be around 150 to 250 MB. This is usually when the trouble begins and only a few will experience problems downloading until the file size gets even larger...and that's when more and more will experience downloading issues.

The remedy for this is to look at what is included with the league file and try to strip it down to only what is necessary such as only Major League stuff. Ask league members to clean out their messages and only subscribe to news they really intend to read. Also make sure the league file is not including images.

Issue #2 may be exacerbating issue #1. OOTP also has been known to have problems with deleted leagues and players not getting completely deleted. Because the game leaves remnants of deleted leagues, and possibly other data related to them, in the .dat files, this makes for a very large league file.

The only way to fix this issue would be for me to ask Markus to clean out the remnants of those deleted leagues. Which means I will need you to FTP your league files to us. The only files we need are the ".dat" files and please include this ticket number (QZT-892382) as part of the file name - that way I know which one is yours. :)

Once you have zipped and uploaded your files to us, please let me know and then I will request Markus to remove the remnants of the deleted leagues.

Here's the link to the instructions how to FTP your league files to us:

I completely agree with the first. Since I haven't really been able to get going, I think the pure size of the initial file is what is hanging me up at home. I'll go in to the game and change my subscriptions.

Would make sense for me too since I haven't had any issues until I was down here in FL using random panera Internet...

Hmmm. That is a good point. I'll hold off until I know.

We could do this during the draft. We ussually stop anyway.

In the meantime, you could go in and delete everyones' old messages before advancing (careful with Ted's - they seem to cause the game to crash).

I have since deleted all my emails and as long as I don't let too many build up, they won't cause my game to crash. I actually have had zero problems with ootp since then but I may not be looking hard enough.
