Re: Expansion and Other Things
i vote after 2017 season. if the new guys cant wait another 7 weeks ,hen maybe they werent going to last in the long run. let them some experience in usbl and then tht gives us time to get ready for expansion in regards to resigning guys or not and looking at free agency.
franchise fee- we should charge the new teams 10 million right off the bat and split it up among the current teams . the longer you have been in league ,more money out of it you get.
just some ideas.

Re: Expansion and Other Things
25 seems like an awfully small protection pool.
What are the limits for number of players selected per team? Isn't there usually something along those lines where a team can't lose more than a handful of guys?
I'm fine with expansion whenever and don't care about draft picks or compensation stuff because I've never made a trade or been asked about one.

Re: Expansion and Other Things
in real life you can only protect 15 players
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1997_Major ... sion_draft
Procedures
Similar to the 1992 expansion draft, both expansion teams selected 35 players.[4] The draft was divided into three rounds. Each team would select 14 players in round 1, 14 players in round 2, and 7 players in round 3. Tampa Bay general manager Chuck LaMar and Arizona general manager Joe Garagiola, Jr. oversaw their teams' selections.
The Devil Rays and Diamondbacks could pick any player not on the protected lists of the 28 other teams, although no team could lose more than one player in a given round. The protected list for each team consisted of:
For the first round, 15 players from the rosters of their entire organization—both their 40-man roster, plus all minor league affiliates.[4]
Each team could add three more players to its protected list after each round.[4]
In addition to the above, players chosen in the 1996 and 1997 amateur drafts were automatically protected, plus players who were 18 or younger when signed in 1995.
Players who were free agents after the end of the 1997 season need not be protected.
As with the 1992 expansion draft, the order was determined by a coin toss. The winner of the toss could choose either: (a) The first overall pick in the expansion draft or (b) allow the other team to pick first and receive both the second and third overall expansion draft picks and the right to pick first in the subsequent rounds of the expansion draft. Tampa Bay won the toss and chose to select first.
this way makes more sense. Why am I gonna allow you to vulture all my prospects cause im not stupid enough to put them on my top 25? Makes sense to just have a list of players.

Re: Expansion and Other Things
So I would assume our list of 25 players doesn't increase after the rounds, which just means we get a little more power to protect initially.
How many rounds would our expansion need to be? Three seems like not enough if you go with the number of selections per round in a real expansion draft (35 total choices). Perhaps 4 rounds of 10 players each is a good starting point? That gives them enough to start to fill out their 40 man secondary roster and a most of a ML and AAA team (depending on the players chosen), and then they'd still have free agency to get some additional players.
But, if we're expanding to 4 more teams, you're going to have to allow teams to lose 2 players per round or it won't work. So 8 lost players, max, per team...
Looking at it that way, 4 teams in an expansion all at once seems a bit much.

Im down for whatever you guys decide. I'm just pumped to get a chance to be in with human owners. I was messing around on the demo before I purchased the code and there is so much information that I'm sure it will take us new guys some time to get in the flow.

Gotta agree. No matter how well we make out, we'll be many seasons behind in understanding.

I think it was nick who said he thought teams in general were too strong as they are. You say 25 is too much? Put it this way, you could keep 6 of 8 position starters, 7 best pitchers then your top 10 prospects that weren't drafted in the last two season?!? What do you want? these guys aren't going to have the pick of the litter, they are basically getting our scraps.

???? I want 15 dudes protected lol.Uuaww wrote:I think it was nick who said he thought teams in general were too strong as they are. You say 25 is too much? 25. and idc about when they come in. I just don't want to lose my whole squad I just got. Barely had time to see these guys play as a team

Your teams depth is going to get raped. With 4 teams coming in, you are going to lose at least 7-8 players.brett11253 wrote:25. and idc about when they come in. I just don't want to lose my whole squad I just got. Barely had time to see these guys play as a team

Re: Expansion and Other Things
MLB allows you to protect 15 and then three per "round." In the MLB expansion, there are three rounds. So, you ultimately get to protect 24 players but only 15 up front. We are going to protect 25. Some might remember the "backup list." That was a nightmare to facilitate.nick wrote:???? Teams with more depth are going to get hit harder. Teams like Toronto wont realize an expansion draft just happend.Uuaww wrote:remember, itll happen to everyone though.brwnbear wrote:Your teams depth is going to get raped. It is what it is. Happy to have 4 new manangers.
Still trying to find out what draft year is protected (2014 vs 2015) and if we are going to protect any exclusive signings (international) within the last 2 years or players who where under 18 years old when they signed (per MLB rules).

Re: Expansion and Other Things
I agree here. Just because we COULD rush and get them in this season, doesn't mean it's the best way to do it. We just made the transfer over, we just tried to iron out draft stuff, we're just now trying to sign new draft picks, we just went through all the media revenue crap and haven't had a full year on the new game to work out the kinks and get used to everything.plasma1896 wrote:i vote after 2017 season. if the new guys cant wait another 7 weeks ,hen maybe they werent going to last in the long run. let them some experience in usbl and then tht gives us time to get ready for expansion in regards to resigning guys or not and looking at free agency.
If we wait til after next season, we can figure out exactly how we want to do the draft, exact numbers etc. We can also decide if we want to contract NE to the new guys, we'll know if Texas or any others have gone missing, etc. It will be great to have these guys, but we don't need to do it the wrong way.

Re: Expansion and Other Things
More active human coaches, the better.
Quit your bitching.
All teams will be affected and this will even out the ridiculous amount of talent everywhere and possibly even the budget mess (sorry bear)
Of course seeit and bear are against it, they raped newbies to death with deals and made ridiculous signings after th season started.
Shut your faces and let the new guys in and keep growin this bitch with active owners!!!
Welcome reign,Kelly, and thabeet.
The league voted and it's unanimous. If we are being real like, it's been voted on.

If we can just get him to understand the term "unanimous" a little better, we'll be ok.nick wrote:Corey for president 2012. Change.Cnasty wrote:More active human coaches, the better.

Re: Expansion and Other Things
What the fuck are you guys talking about?
I reminded trendon that he may want to make a decision on expanding soon as there was a lot of interest. I voted for a 4 team expansion in 2016. Where in the process am I bitching about shit?
I am 100% for expansion.
BTW - Corey, you have been really grumpy lately.
