Scouting Reports Section
Would be awesome. I know its not realistic because it would cause too many conflicts among coaches, but dammit if we could somehow integrate!
Think about it, scouting reports would create more parity, coaches of lesser skill would be able to use intel to better prepare their gameplan increasing chances at victory! Coaches who fall into tendencies and who lean on certain plays would be forced to diversify!
Our only problem would be those who used it to publicly bash their opponents gameplay, a serious offense pertaining to league rules.
Its too bad because a section like this would kick ass.

We used to use this in other leagues I played in, but like you said, immatures couldn't post constructive info, it always turned into a war...Hence, the league is not active anymore...BigStimpin wrote:Would be awesome. I agree I have done it in other leagues...we may even have done this before here I can't remember....but getting people to even do them could be tricky. And after awhile it does get repeative. But I like the idea overall

Re: Scouting Reports Section
It would only work if there were tick boxes or if it was merely statistics For instance, you would fill out a survey that says: CLICK ALL THAT APPLY
* Straight player
* Suspect player
* Handles conflicts well
And then a section on more specific, game-related things
* Throws the ball a lot on first down
* Likes to keep ball on speed option
etc etc
Once you start allowing people to type shit, all hell breaks loose. Even with the best intentions, even diction can start a fight.
Example A: "Constantly kept ball with QB on the option."
Example B: "When running the option, will often have QB keep it."
I guarantee you 'A' would lead to a fight even though it essentially says the same thing as 'B' and it is a fair, non-inflammatory comment.

I use a turbo controller.
Re: Scouting Reports Section
We have this, its called Coach Reports. If you made things public things would get ugly.
It'd never be used the right way like "This player favors option on third down."
It'd just be a huge bitch fest about people cheesing.

Re: Scouting Reports Section
Coaches Report is not the same as a scouting report. The idea would be to get a gameplan going and a way for people to get "film" on other coaches.Block M wrote:We have this, its called Coach Reports. If you made things public things would get ugly.

They'd be used the same way, to complain.cougnix wrote:Coaches Report is not the same as a scouting report. We actually do have "film" on teams now through Justin.tv broadcasting.

We have scouting reports now, you can pm the coaches that have played your opponent and ask them all these questions. Its always whats best for the league, and as a whole we don't think scouting reports are best for the league. Great idea but in the long run this would be a very big headache.

Yep, I did these for the league that LytezOut had for a long time. I don't believe we ever had more than 24 people at a time, and while these were great to start with, they turned lazy and ugly real fast. Only the winning coaches would consistently do them, which kinda defeats the point. And I won't even get started at all the subtle shots people took at each in them.buckeye76 wrote:We have scouting reports now, you can pm the coaches that have played your opponent and ask them all these questions. Re: Scouting Reports Section
In a perfect world scouting reports would be great for the league, but its not and there would inevitably be guys that used it as a forum to complain and air dirty laundry between themselves and their opponents. This would/could be detrimental to our league, it's just too bad. I'd love a heads up when I'm going into a game with a counter or drag fan, its all good, I'd just like to be prepared for it before the 4th quarter and its too late!buckeye76 wrote:We have scouting reports now, you can pm the coaches that have played your opponent and ask them all these questions. My sample Scouting Report...
Swellvermin/Texas A&M - Run first coach who likes to keep her between the tackles with power formations. With a lead he is very good at grinding his way to victory. He does have a passing game when backed into a corner and loves working the middle of the field with his beast of a tight end. (Don't want to give away all his secrets

Anyway, as a result ole Swelly would perhaps be forced to explore other options in his playbook, employ different strategy and diversify the gaming experience.

I was visualizing completely optional Reports, I'd assume mostly done by the losing coach to help the rest of the league bring down a powerful coach with lethal plays. Again, just fantasizing here as I'm on board with the notion that it would only be a matter of time before shit hit the fan.

Re: Scouting Reports Section
I'd love to have a real scouting report to read on my upcoming opponents, and to also see what people are noticing about me so I can get better too. I mean if there is a way to do this I'm on board and would be happy to help. The only way I see it working is if all reports are sent in to the league, then posted by a moderator who can act as a filter. Again, I'd be happy to help with that, if we ever try it.BigStimpin wrote:fsupenguin wrote:Yep, I did these for the league that LytezOut had for a long time. Re: Scouting Reports Section
i think this would be very feasible, simply have a mod delete any post that seems incendiary and make it up to their discretion so there's no debate about whether a post can stick or not

Re: Scouting Reports Section
orrr... a possible idea, that would actually make the conf commish earn their points
, have every report sent to the conf commish first, they read and approve. also, they see if a certain player is getting a lot of negative press and can deal with it accordingly. 2 birds, 1 stone.
