NBA Offseason
NBA Offseason
with the draft coming around and some trades i figured i'd start a new thread
draft is thursday, by far my favorite draft to watch.
big trade for me tonight. my favorite Husky ever Ben Gordon got traded to the Bobcats for Maggette. a Kemba/BenGo back court is awesome for a husky fan, horrible for a defensive minded Bobcat fan

Re: NBA Offseason
The Rockets are going with the LoLcats team building model.
Looks like they are trying to move Lowry for a top 10 pick now too.
I do like the trade of Budinger, because it shows that they firmly believe that Parsons can handle the SF duties. I thought Parsons was very fun to watch and played a pretty good all around game last season.

Sources say Houston has an offer of Lowry, the #14 and #16 picks for Tyreke Evans and the #5 pick on the table. Up to Sacramento to decide.

Re: NBA Offseason
Not on court specific, but I like the Hawks move hiring Danny Ferry as GM. Which given this ownership group's cheap history has me confused. Guess we will see how it unfolds. He's got his work cut out for him in improving the roster given the limitations of salary cap room.

Re: NBA Offseason
I'm hoping none of our guys get stuck in Cleveland or Charlotte. I don't think either franchise is going anywhere anytime soon.
Was hoping to see Wall and MKG together in DC, but the Ariza deal prevented that. Wouldn't mind seeing one of the Cats end up in Indy so I could go see them a few times.

S14: N Texas 7-1

S16-21: Washington 9-4, 10-3, 8-5, 9-4, 7-6, 6-7
S22: Ohio 8-5
S23: ECU 12-2
S24-26: Kentucky 8-5, 5-7, 5-7
Career: 102-61
Re: NBA Offseason
I hate the move for Buddinger. Make the SF position more muddled for us. We have a tweener in Derrick Williams and he needs to be on the floor. You spend a 2nd pick on him and you dont have a spot for him. Looks like another long season in Minny

Any chance Ray Allen comes to Miami? Saw something on a Canes blog I was reading.

Re: NBA Offseason
I saw that the mavs are trying to trade Lamar Odom to LAC before a $2.4 buyout or something.
If he is bought out, I have no clue what a guy like that can command in free agency or if Miami can use the MLE, but I wonder if he'd be a realistic option for Miami to sign.

I thought Allen signed his contract with Miami while KG was walking off of the court at the end of the series.

Re: NBA Offseason
finally pistons do something, a first round pick from the bobcats(top 5) for ben gordon plus cap space after maggette runs out this year. dumars has had about 6 or 7 really bad years and his job security from the championship has run out so he needs some good to start happening, hopefully with a good pick this year to go with monroe and knight
Re: NBA Offseason
There is a lot of confusion about this because the first headline I saw on ESPN stated: "Bobcats deal Maggette, pick to Pistons for Gordon," but I believe the pick is going from Detroit to Charlotte. That's what the article said, just a typo on the headline I suppose.cdub21 wrote:finally pistons do something, a first round pick from the bobcats(top 5) for ben gordon plus cap space after maggette runs out this year. dumars has had about 6 or 7 really bad years and his job security from the championship has run out so he needs some good to start happening, hopefully with a good pick this year to go with monroe and knight
So when I saw that I instantly thought Joe Dumars got his groove back but with the pick going from Detroit to Charlotte I cool my jets on that thinking but still think it's a good move freeing up so much cap space. This deal will allow Detroit to offer max money to someone after next year if the stars align in free agency.
Re: NBA Offseason
Per ESPN:
The Detroit Pistons have agreed to trade Ben Gordon and a 2013 protected first-round draft pick to the Charlotte Bobcats for swingman Corey Maggette.
Sources told ESPN.com the first-round pick going to Charlotte is lottery-protected in 2013, top-eight protected in 2014, top-one protected in 2015 and unprotected in 2016.

Re: NBA Offseason
Yeah and it makes more sense that way too. At first I thought Dumars held the Bobcats GM at gun point to get a first in the deal but the pick will be Charlotte's reward for taking an injury riddled up and down 6th man and paying him 25M over the next two years.
Re: NBA Offseason
lol fuck. they could of went after amare or someone a couple years back but settled with gordon/villianuava
. it all goes back to darko lol. carmelo, wade, or bosh could of been recruiting someone to detroit 2 years ago, but they just suck instead.
