It's been so long that I don't even remember how to spell his name.

Good lord. Let me know who to pay.
Yea that's insane. I think Deedub got drunk in San Diego and misread things there...tball275 wrote:Is that trade for real? Butler and Janssen for Hosmer?
Seems like a lot to give up for a .220 hitter. Is there a reason?

It's not buying low if you give someone a player who is better than you're getting and a closer on top of it, even if that closer means nothing to youDRWebs wrote:Dear valued league members,Seeitsaveit13 wrote:Yea that's insane. This is most certainly a very real trade offer proposed by myself. This is a combination of an ultimate buy low opportunity and a lack of interest league wide in the combo of Butler and Janssen. What you see is what you get with Butler, one of the most consistent players in the league for the past 3 seasons. He'll hit for average, drive in a lot of runs, and provide modest run and home run totals with no speed. With Hosmer, you have one of the unluckiest players this year. Currently sporting the 2nd worst BABIP, there's nowhere to go up for the young slugger. More signs pointing to a better future are a return to his elite minor league norms for his batting eye. There's a reason why Hosmer was drafted in round 5 and Butler not until round 11. The potential is there and that's what this is all about baby! Most importantly he offers an increase in runs and steals while being near a push for HR, RBI, and AVG from this point forward. Janssen does my team virtually nothing as I already employ Rodney, Soriano, and Frieri in my RP slots. So between going for broke with a high upside move and spinning my wheels trying to move this tandem for something palatable make this completely worthwhile for me. Please reconsider or arbitrate
Sincerely,

Or you could just drop Jannsen and pick up one of those guys... You're basically giving him 2 bonafide starters for a guy who is struggling to fill a utility spot in his lineup. Can't fault him for wanting to do that... but that doesn't really make it fairDRWebs wrote:It's a 2 for 1 deal, so let's also consider I will be picking someone up post trade. So imagine some of these possibilities.
Billy Butler - 88% owned
Casey Janssen - 48% owned
for
Eric Hosmer - 81% owned
* Kelly Johnson - 66% owned
* Ike Davis - 47% owned
* Logan Morrison - 46% owned
* Gavin Floyd - 23rd overall last 14 days
* Franklin Morales - 46th overall last 14 days / 52nd overall last 30 days
* Michael Fiers - 26th overall last 14 days / 90th overall last 30 days
I don't know what exactly the league would find acceptable, Butler for Hosmer straight up? Then I still have the problem of Janssen taking up a roster spot with no takers, as I've come close to releasing him over the past week multiple times. And by all means if you think you have something better to offer from your team, go right ahead but the counteroffers I've seen don't inspire much confidence in that.
