I really wish there was a sign and trade with him last season. Not sure I can take another year of hearing about him.

with this Marvin Williams for Devin Harris deal the Hawks lighten up even more salary

they could be in play for Howard, interesting since Howard is from Atlanta.

Haberstroh tweeted that they can get Howard this season and be able to go after Chris Paul next offseason.

Giddy!

I like the williams deal as much as I do the Johnson trade! Howard is from the Atl like y'all said plus he & Josh Smith are good friends. Hmmm, man this is too weird actually having good thoughts about the Hawks & the direction of the franchise. Plus add in a lottery pick(I'm guessing for this season) along w/the Houston pick from nj that hopefully will be 15-20 range & there could be a major infusion of talent in the Atl.

Ferry may correct the poor decisions of billy knight of drafting Marvin Williams over Chris Paul a few years ago in 1 or 2 offseasons! lol ok, prolly taking this too far but the potential is there to at least be in the conversationTo be a major player for free agents

Yea it is, that's why I said it'll prolly be in the 15-20 range. The lottery pick will be Atlantas, doubt they have enought talent to make the playoffs this season.

Espn just had an article out saying that Atl cld certainly be in play for Howard after next season & that Anthony Morrow coming in the nets deal is a good friend of Howards. I doubt that's a big reason why he was in the deal by it couldn't hurt.

the Hawks would still be in contention:

i'd say the playoff teams (in no order are): Miami, Orlando (if Howard is still there), Indy (if Hibbert is still there), 76ers, Celtics, NY
then it'd be a big cluster for the last couple: Chicago (no Rose), Washington, Brooklyn, Atl, Cleveland (they may still be a season away, but i think they are going to surprise alot if Irving has another year like the last one)

ESPN wrote:The deal as it stands, as reported Sunday night by ESPN.com, calls for the Nets to send the expiring contracts of Jordan Farmar, Johan Petro, Anthony Morrow and Jordan Williams along with DeShawn Stevenson (via sign-and-trade) and a future first-round pick (lottery-protected in 2013 via Houston) to Atlanta in exchange for Johnson.

Johnson, 31, has four years and nearly $90 million dollars left on his contract

I guess so Dave, makes sense when look at teams, I just don't know much about these guys coming in the JJ deal. I thought they were pretty much scrubs except their value is in the fact that their contracts expire.

Suns meeting with Eric Gordon, considering offering him the max, per Broussard.

What'd the lockout do again?

Wow, Nets still in play for Howard.

Driving up the price, lovely.

In actuality though, another team offering a contract for Gordon, even a max, may turn out to be beneficial for New Orleans IMO.

D. Howard to NJ apparently isn't dead yet. NJ willing to package Lopez, Brooks, and a 1st. Williams - Johnson - Howard is still a real possibility.

Fields is piss for that money but I hear it's to keep Nash away from Knicks.

Celtics on verge of signing Jason Terry. This would be much wiser than bringing back Allen.

And the Nets wouldn't be sending a first. According to ESPN it'd be three of them

ESPN wrote:The Nets and the Magic are discussing a trade that would send Howard to the Nets for Brook Lopez, Kris Humphries, MarShon Brooks and the Nets' first-round draft picks in 2013, 2015 and 2017, sources said. Lopez and Humphries, who are both free agents, would go to Orlando in sign-and-trade deals

And we thought the Miami supporting cast was rough.

Well, you really only need 8-9 to make a good playoff squad. They'll have 4 quality pieces. As long as Williams and Johnson are making shots, Wallace and Howard probably won't care too much about scoring. If nothing else, that would make for a pretty formidable defensive squad. I definitely like the potential of the team and how the parts would seemingly work together.

The Magic better do that deal in a heartbeat.

He isnt re-signing, you get some decent big guys and a lot of youth with picks for the future.
