Totally worth it. I've gotten my fair share of Yellow's in high school due to goal celebrations.ReignOnU wrote:Dempsey booked for bringing the Lambeau leap to Tottenham.

USA starts the hexagonal this wednesday with an away game at Honduras. Among the other 5 teams (Honduras, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama and Jamaica), Honduras is the weakest at home. The USA has not been playing well recently and we lost to Jamaica away. We start off though with Honduras, then home to Costa Rica (sending them to Denver), then away to Mexico. 4 points out of those 3 games would be great and 6 would be amazing. We have never beaten Mexico away in a game that matters, in fact they have only lost once at home ever in a qualifier.

The first match is Wednesday at 4PM EST on BeIN Sport. I know some cable companies have been picking that up and I've seen it on my cable guide but it wasn't available yet.Uuaww wrote:USA starts the hexagonal this wednesday with an away game at Honduras. an away draw would be good enough here. when you really only need to finish 3rd of 6, it should be enough. 16 points should be enough to qualify, 17 to be safe. If we pull 12 from the home games that aren't Mexico, then we only need 5 more from the away games. A win and two draws would be enough.

I just found this channel last week. I was at work and used my phone to see if El Clasico was on. I saw that channel and didn't think I had it as part of my package, but hit record anyway, just in case. When I got home, it was recorded.

Apparently the channel is joint owned by Al Jazeera and TWC; It has quite a few soccer contracts.

I was looking through their programming schedule a while ago. They also show Italian professional volleyball. If it's men's volleyball, eh. But if it's womens......ReignOnU wrote:LetsGoPeay wrote:The first match is Wednesday at 4PM EST on BeIN Sport. Re: Soccer discussion thread
Love this quick little article on FIFAInsider about Galatasary's recent moves....
Did Galatasary Buy Stars For FIFA 13 Popularity?
It sounds like a spurious headline I’ll give you that but Galatasaray CEO Lutfu Aribogan has been saying exactly that when asked to comment on the recent signings of Wesley Sneijder and Didier Drogba.
As well as them being exceptional footballers, who should help Gala in their quest for Champions League glory, it seems the opinion of the CEO’s son also has a part to play.
“We’re in first place in the Super Lig and the knockout stages of the Champions League. So spending to improve the squad in the middle of the season wasn’t an urgent need from a real-world standpoint. But all the kids are playing FIFA 13 with Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester United and not Galatasaray. So we are trying to change this”
He continues after asking his son why he only plays with Real Madrid…
“Dad, no one wants to be Milan Baros or Umut Bulut.’ So we are acquiring players that the kids do want to be. Like Sneijder and Drogba. And maybe Emile Heskey next in an ironic sort of way.”

Re: Soccer discussion thread
so yesterday probably couldn't have gone worse. USA lost in Honduras 2-1. I watched both other games and wow... the hex is gonna be rough. Jamaica drew AT Mexico City. Mexico's all-time record before that games is like 60-5-1 (Costa Rica beat them there and the game is still talked about). Jamaica had 2 amazing first half chances and were unlucky not to get a goal. The thing about Jamaica is they re-vamped their side with British born players of Jamaican origin. This is not the same Jamaica team we are used to seeing.
Panama was up 2-0 on Costa Rica at home but ended up tying 2-2. Costa Rica has long been regarded as the 3rd best team CONCACAF but has faded a bit in recent years. They really only have 1 star abroad (Striker Ruiz at Fulham) but he played very well. The USA needs to watch out for him.
Next up is a pair of games for each team in late march. USA is home to Costa Rica and away to Mexico. Anything but a win against Costa Rica is a very bad result. We need maximum points and to assert dominance over the lesser teams. Especially since our 2nd game is at Mexico, a place WE haven't gotten a point in qualifying in ages.
The big team to watch to see how this group is going to play out is Panama. Widely regarded as the weakest team in the hex they only have 1 european based player. They are away to Jamaica and home vs Honduras. Them becoming a group whipping boy DOES NOT work in our favor... Whipping boys means the points needed to qualify is higher and the USA tends to fuck up against them (see Antigua last round). We also play at Panama our final hex game and want that game to be dead rubber, not needing anything.
The only saving grace is that the 4th place team from this group doesn't have to play the 5th from South America this year, they get to play New Zealand who is just playing complete shit ball right now. So I would think we only need to finish in the top 4... Still I would rather outright qualify.
The USA is sending Costa Rica to Denver in march for the game which is a great move. Central American teams are just awful in the cold. Jamaica won't mind because they mostly play in europe anyways. If Denver doesn't provide a good homefield the USA needs to just suck it up and stop trying to give hex games to a bunch of cities. The only two REAL homefield advantage cities we get are Columbus, Ohio (where we ALWAYS send Mexico) and Kansas City. Send them all there.

I've been having some serious doubts about Klinsmann lately. This didn't help to ease them.

So, there's a good chance the US doesn't even make the World Cup?
