Yup.

I mean, you can definitely do things with them you can't do with regular lineups, but I would imagine 90, probably 99% of what guys are doing with 7 day lineups right now, they could also do with the regular lineup screen.

If you wanna start a guy on something like, Monday at 2B, and Tuesday , and Friday at SS, and sit him the other 4 days I get it. But how many guys are being that meticulous with their lineups? I just don't see it.

My big gripe is the manager completely obliterates your batting order when inserting subs. I know I can set to the depth chart to "only when tired" but then risk of injury gets greater. Auto-fill lineups , then place what subs you want in when. You can also pick and choose which pitcher your sub goes in against rather than a generic "5th game". If I have an option of resting a star versus Hays or Smith, I would like to rest him against Smith.

Just curious why we deviated from what we did last season, especially if we have a bonus sim coming right behind it

i wouldn't call that meticulous... but i do it like that.

i have a few OF'ers of equal talent that i want to see who is going to perform better. i like deciding which pitcher to put them up against not necessarily what handed pitcher they go up against. so its not always as easy as 'every other game' or 'vs lefties'

lol

while i do the lineups for each game, i don't think it has any impact on how good or bad my team performs. i just like to have the control.

I'M A CONTROL FREAK!!! FINE ME!

What is the alternative to 7 day lineups. I used to not use them, but was given advice to use them or someone mentioned something about them and I started using them. I usually have my manager set the lineups first during spring training because the guy will make 2 completely different lineups and put alot of guys in, then during the season I set my lineups how I see fit and use the 7 day lineups. So serious question what are the pros and cons?

i simply set a lneup vs RHP w/DH and one verse LHP w/DH

make sure you have back ups for each position (can be the same guy for multiple spots) then if you want your back up SS to play 2 times a week(ish) click the drop down box by his name and tell the manager/CPU to sub him in every 4 games (or however many)

or you can leave the drop down box set to : "whenever starter is tired"

in 11 full seasons ive never used a 7 day lineup. Not saying I'm doing it right or the best, but it seems to have a heck of a lot more restrictions/headaches

Sure the CPU will change the batting order around sometimes (usually only when multiple guys are getting off days), but i dont really care as its usually something decent.

I would also say that if the CPU is DRASTICALLY changing your lineups a lightbulb maybe should be going off.

Everyone does what they like....I'm obviously not a 7 day lineup guy though

The lightbulb is that my team isn't very good, but the CPU lineups are sometimes absolutely ridiculous. Slowest guy on the team in the leadoff spot? Yeah, I don't necessarily trust the lineup AI all the time. What you are saying you do is exactly the same thing I do, however, when I go to my lineup screen and look at 7 day lineups, I post it in there. How does the 7 day lineup work versus you just not plugging in the 7 day lineup screen?

I used 7-day a few time last season, and had a hard time with the game messing up whenever I would insert a player. I would insert a pitcher, then it would take random guys out of my lineup and add pitchers in the batting order 3 days later and remove guys that I didn't want removed. Real pain in the ass for sure.

If you're ONLY auto-filling the 7 day lineup screen, there is no point to using it. Maybe someone else can confirm that?

It's only if you want to be more detailed and make changes to positions, player moves, lineups on the fly each game.

side note. OBP >>>>> speed/base stealing from a leadoff or top of the order hitter, just my opinion
