Best college team in the NFL

Post by Uuaww »

So I was looking at Cal's players in the NFL and was thinking they may have the most complete/best team to field an entire NFL team.

QB- Aaron Rodgers
RB- Marshawn Lynch, Justin Forsett, Shane Vereen, Will Ta'ufo'ou (FB)
WR- DeSean Jackson, Keenan Allen (R), Marvin Jones (not great depth after Jackson but have quite a few WRs in the NFL)
TE- Tony Gonzalez, Craig Stevens
O-line- Mitchell Shwartz (all rookie team last year), Brian de la Puente (4 year vet), Alex Mack (pro bowler), Mike Gibson, Justin Cheadle (last two guys are scrubs, but are NFL players)

DT- Tyson Alualu, Brandon Mebane (both are regular starters for their NFL teams)
DE- Andre Carter, Cameron Jordan (weaker position, but have more guys on NFL teams)
LB- Lorenzo Alexander, Desmond Bishop, Mychal Kendricks (2 NFL starters and a sub)
CB- Nnamdi Asomugha (only 1 CB, but he's a good one)
S- Thomas Decoud (probowler), Chris Conte (all rookie team), DJ Campbell (role player, prob put as 2nd CB)

P- Bryan Anger (we have a punter)
K- Ryan Longwell (AND a kicker)
LS- Nick Sundberg (AND a long snapper!)

Most teams would need a good QB, so other teams that would be good would be Georgia, Virginia Tech, Mississippi, Tennessee, Florida State

Looking at it again, Florida State (accepted Ponder as their QB) and Tennessee would be really good teams.

Miami has fallen so far off the map in NFL draft picks that once the studs thin out it may take a while to replenish NFL U

Georgia just off the top of my head would have

QB: Matthew Stafford
HB: Moreno
WR: AJ Green
LB: Jarvis Jones
CB: Champ Bailey, Tim Jennings

I know they also have a ton of OL/DL

Tennessee has Peyton Manning and Arian Foster. There's not a QB/HB duo in the league any better.

Rodgers/Lynch is up there.

Either way, both are better than Bradford/Peterson

They're up there, but you're talking about the best RB in the league, and maybe the best QB of all time.

And yes....they are. Bradford? GTFO

I'm shocked Shel hasn't said that Purdue has the best college team :P

Agree totally.

I still say that current U of M beats the Cal team that Teddy has up there.

QB - Tom Brady, Chad Henne
RB - Shoelace
WR - Mario Manningham, Steve Breston, Jason Avant, Junior Heminway
OL - Jake Long, Steve Hutchinson, Stephen Schilling, David Molk, David Baas, Jon Goodwin
TE - Martell Webb
DL - Mike Martin, Tim Jamison, Brandon Graham, Alan Branch
LB's - Larry Foote, LaMar Woodley, David Harris, Jonas Mouton
DB's - Leon Hall, C. Woodson, Stevie Brown
P/K - Zolton Mesko, Jay Feely,

If we're playing six man football..... The Hoosiers still couldn't field a team.

No one has named a team better than that Cal one, which actually is quite a surprise.

I love that Thabeet just put Henne on his list. (shoulda just stuck with Brady)

QB - Tom Brady, Chad Henne
RB - Shoelace
WR - Mario Manningham (constantly injured) , Steve Breston (currently unsigned FA), Jason Avant, Junior Heminway
OL - Jake Long, Steve Hutchinson (retired) , Stephen Schilling, David Molk, David Baas, Jon Goodwin
TE - Martell Webb (perennial practice squad fodder who is a FA)
DL - Mike Martin, Tim Jamison, Brandon Graham, Alan Branch
LB's - Larry Foote, LaMar Woodley, David Harris, Jonas Mouton
DB's - Leon Hall, C. Woodson, Stevie Brown
P/K - Zolton Mesko, Jay Feely,
a few holes ;)

Florida would have a pretty decent team especially on defense.

led by Tim Tebow or Rex Grossman ;)

I really think that I don't care if you have a great defense and a great RB/WR if you have a shitty QB you aren't doing winning games. And because of very few defenses being great, I think that Rodgers, Lynch, Jackson and Gonzalez on offense with that decent O-line would just tear up defenses and the defense could hold it together.

When you get rid of guys like Flacco, Romo, Kapernick and other small college QBs, The only real starting QBs from big colleges that could even fill most positions come from Texas AM, Michigan, Tennessee, Mississippi, Virginia Tech, USC, Georgia, Florida State, Auburn, Kansas State, Wisconsin, Oklahoma and Cal.
