I don't think you comprehend my thoughts on 'feelings' and 'emotions'.nick wrote:lol kinda funny im watching a kid vs metta world peace in fts and kimmel goes "are you nervous?" and MWP goes "ive never been nervous in my life" lol.. chalk 1 up for Team Riccio in the emotions department
I think people get nervous... all the time. I think the players data, given a large enough sample size, is representative of times when he's calm, nervous, mad, sad, happy, tired, fresh, banged up, not banged, etc etc etc. therefore I prefer to use that data over the emotional, often quick day after analysis of 'he's afraid' or 'he's nervous'

most stat guys feel this way, so i'm not sure what lebby feels. nobody thinks players are robots or don't have emotions. its just that all the emotions can be more accurately reflected thru the data he's already presented rather than what your opinion is of his emotions.

I'm gonna out-Lebby you on this one and say that's absolutely how he feels.DRiccio21 wrote:don't think that's anti-lebby.shel311 wrote:The anti-Lebby, interesting!!!DRiccio21 wrote:I think people get nervous... all the time. I've heard him mention countless times that in his opinion, the only time NBA players would really have their play affected by nerves is shooting free throws. Because they're alone and have time to think about it.
He's also said a million times that players are so uber confident because their entire lives they've stacked successes on top of successes/top 1% of the top 1% and all the other stuff he says all the time, and they're confident to a fault. WHen Kobe is taking terrible shots for the win, it's often because he doesn't see it as a bad shot, he's confident in his game that that is a good shot. In the flow of a game with everything moving so fast, I know I've heard him say that the fast twitch muscle fiber takes over and he doesn't feel like the thought of nerves ever really crosses their minds to feel nervous or be overwhelmed by the moment.
I'm feeling good about that one.

Re: NBA 2012-2013 Thread
yes, he certainly says what you said. but i'm not sure thats exactly what i'm saying.... nerves are one just one example. i'm just talking about emotions in general. players have emotions, players are human. but their data assumes all of them.
i'm not saying guys are sitting on the court 'scared'. nothing like that. i'm simply talking emotions, whatever they may be and however they may be individually for that player. for some it might be over confidence, for some it might be nerves, for some it might be sadness. whatever it is.

i would argue that the data you get from a 82 game season is nt gonna be the same in the finals of the NBA playoffs. There isnt a single gamne in that 82 game season that compares to the nerves of the final 7 games to determine the title. Sorry, not buying it.
Plus, Lebron plays great every year and sucks ass in the finals every time. How does that constantly happen with all this data that takes into account his emotions?

Until we have a scientific devise that indicates when a player is nervous, how often they are nervous and we evaluate their stats based on their emotional state.

there are already things that can do that, just not being worn on a court.

Just stop it Bosh, come on.
Regarding Danny Green:

Regarding Danny Green:
"He has a knack for shooting, but he won't be open tonight," Bosh said Tuesday. "We'll see how he shoots with somebody always on him."

He's shooting 50% from the field on contested jumpers in the series.Cnasty wrote:Just stop it Bosh, come on.![]()

Granted most of his shots have been open, 24 of em.

We'll see if Wade can back up Bosh's talk because Wade has been downright awful the way he constantly just loses Green in this series.
