Do you guys have any defensive tips?

Post by MrChampagne3 »

I've tried everything and every formation. I've tried the aggressive and conservative thing, you name it and I've had no luck. Main problem is the passing game. The only thing I've learned is to not try and switch to the defender, just let the CPU do the defending which is pretty boring. What have you guy's had success with?

Yeah that seems like the only option. I've looked around online and so far the consensus seems to be that your only option is to apply pressure. But that wouldn't be NDL friendly. Do you guys think that there is any chance that we could get a patch or something?

Just take a breath. Defense is very tough. I get lucky with a drop once in awhile...haha. But here in league games most coaches are going to mix it up so you should be mixing it up too. Zone to man to blitz to zone blitz. You get my drift. I will say I haven't had much luck in this game user picking but I have a ton of swats. Doesn't sound like your complaining of stoping the run. I know the computer fooled me bad on a read option today in an OD. I just laughed.

Sorry man, the curl routes and corner routes use zone to defend against those. But as your aware, zone defense's will have there holes too. But if both Coaches are mixing it up you should be getting some stops.

Champ has a good point, I ve always been more of a ball control guy myself. 10-12 play drives average scoring I'd say over my time here. This game this year it seems like you can really stack up some long drives. (atleast in the od's)

Best of luck man, I'm sure you'll do fine.

edit after your post above.....

They'll be a patch, I'm hoping soon. That man defense vs the curls/corner routes/ out routes is really horrible. Heisman seems to be a little better here and there, I know I was sacked a few times cause no one was open.

if you give a qb time to throw, your a sitting duck even against mediocre qb's.

Take this with a grain of salt. Peay is always messing with people and is pretty sly in how he does it. This could be one of those "Im screwing with Swelly" posts.

But at least you and I get new uniforms for our team tomorrow. So we'll look good even when the other team is scoring.

I was screwing with him, cause I dont give a shit about uniforms. I do, however, want a damn patch! Now I was using it in the sense that I want them to patch the game, but I was hoping Peay would have taken it like a play on words for his "uniform" thread. :geek:

Yeah I cant stop anything in this game.

If I put pressure on the QB, some quick out is open or slant.

If I give time and sit in coverage the middle is always open. Man or Zone.

Every game I've played QBs are going 14 of 15. Tried formations, blitz, press. I'm lost.

The EMU Fly Like an Eagle D

1. Place controller on couch
2. Go to beer fridge
3. Occasionally look at the screen to see if a turnover has been forced by the CPU
4. Crack open beer from said beer fridge
5. Enjoy the libations and stress free D
6. Pray for a turnover or a field goal.

The thing is, if you play someone who really knows how to run an offense, its nearly impossible to stop no matter what you do. I know in previous versions of the game, on 90% of the pass plays in my playbook I had an answer for anything a defense could throw at me. Man, zone, press, blitz, you name it. The caveat was user defense, some guys (Mike, VT come to mind) had the ability to take away half the field and could ruin any chance I had. Now it seems tougher to make those kinds of plays on defense, so its almost like youre at the mercy of the offense making a mistake.
