The method of finding them isn't an intended part of the game.

Any idea on how to either stop this or catch em as they're happening?

Or is that too much work or hard to track down and not really worth it?

Unless you go on a Wu deleting binge, how do you get it leveled out or fix those areas?

I think he meant not too late to restart.

But i'm not sure we even have a fix or tracking system for this, so that would have to be in place or else a restart would be a mute point.

This is what the league has turned into.

Its sad that Nick can start rumors without providing any evidence and everyone starts blasting the three people that are responsible for creating and running this league.

Sure, you can start over. But what would be the point. If reign remains commish and continues to produce good results (which he will because he knows more about this game than all of us), he will be accused of cheating. Its not going to resolve the fact that we have a group of individuals that are not mature enough to trust another individual and they let their feelings of jelousy control them. I know I can be the same way and that is why I have stopped posting as much.

That being said, some of us are going to have to grow up a little and appreciate those that put the time and effort to keep this thing going. In reality, their efforts give them an advantage because they put the time and effort into understanding how the game works. They understand that if they spend X amounts of dollars in scouting internationals, they will net better results than those that dont spend anything. It only takes a few hours of messing with an offline sim to figure out the differences.

@ Nick - Trendon messed with K Thomas' history. He said it earlier in this thread.
@ Reign - Sorry for giving you a hard time in the past. It was me being insecure and immature and stupid.
@ the league - Treat guys like trendon and reign better and if you are going to accuse them of cheating, at least come up with some specific evidence of what they are doing wrong. This secret stuff makes it unbearable to be a commish. It is so tiring seeing accusations suggested but never made and then after a while people assume that they have been proven as fact.

read all the posts. no secret stuff. the way I understand it, people who have done this were asked to stop bypassing the IFA process like this.

What's so hard to learn about baseball that reign knows more

Contact - ball in play
Gap - doubles / triples
Power - home runs
Eye - get walks
Avoid k - put ball in play n don't strike out

Stuff - strike outs
Movement - cause ground balls

Except that, no one is cheating.

There are two ways to cheat in this game. Look at the "true" players ratings and change the ratings. If you have a good enough scout, the scouted ratings are almost identical to the true ratings. You can verify this in an offline league. No one but a commish who UPLOADS can change the ratings. If you believe that Reign is changing the ratings, why bother playing?

There is no way to sign another teams IFA unless you know or can guess the name of the player and the exact time when the player becomes an IFA. I suppose that they can exist "hidden" in the file somewhere but who is going to spent time going through every player in a 20,000 or so database to see who is a new IFA and search for them by name? If someone wants to go through that much work, more power to them.

if the guy is putting up ridiculous numbers for some reason i don't understand that was tweaked behind the scenes, i think it makes sense and takes one issue away from the league.

instead of bitching about everything thats wrong, i'd rather we start working to correct these issues so we can go forward with a better league that lasts.

Bear, I appreciate your candidness and certainly accept that apology and likewise to you. There's a lot of common sense in that post. I've long since accepted what you told me from the beginning and reached the point that I run the league to have fun and to offer and outlet for 29 other guys to have fun as well. Call it silly, or cliche, but a large part of the reason that I run the league is for everyone else. Not saying I'd do it if I didn't have a team, but when it's time to put in the multitude of hours that it takes to update some things like logos or do a season rollover, that's really about trying to create a better experience for everyone else. If people are so naive to think that I'd put in that kind of effort, only to intentionally undo it by being shady, then I suppose I can't really change their mind.

As for restart/continue... it gets brought up every so often and it seems that we are happy to move forward as is. If it's something a group would like to address again, just bring it up in the next winter meeting.

I hear ya and really appreciate the offer, but it's unnecessary. Everyone in the league knew how good he was and had the same potential to acquire him after the fact. Besides, we all know he's due to go down for 4-5 months and screw you out of the playoffs anyway. Apparently KT was someone's version of a troll job... elite amazing player that never plays!

While I can appreciate bear's apology, guys in this league are afraid to talk to other members.

I hear it all the time how Reign is such a cheater.
So I talk to him all the time about things being said. He explains things to me.
He is a very open commissioner if you just ask.

I am not necessarily asking for insider info, but as Reign explained, there is a difference between doing your homework and getting good at the game and doing things that are cheating the system.
I am not accusing you of cheating, I am asking.

I will say, if there are guys in this league doing things to get around the system, boot their asses out or I am out myself.

As far as the restart, I agree that on one hand, it would be nice so we would all start out even, however, to Ryan's point, if guys are doing things in question, they will continue to do them until we, as Dave stated, work together for the betterment of the league.

Along these same lines, nick, are you just doing what you explained a page ago to find your IFA's?
If so, I don't see that as cheating.
I am sorry if that is what you are doing and had to publicly show us. Some secrets are best kept.
