Ticking Timebomb.....3-2-1

Post by texasfan4444 »

Looks like I'm going to have to send my PS3 back soon. HDMI output is officially dead. I am able to play using component cables but that greatly reduces my ability to see the whole field and since I'm a disciple of the chuck and duck it makes my games really tough to play.

The connection went bad yesterday while playing a dynasty game. The audio is still there, but the video went to lost signal. I'll have more news after i call Sony tomorrow to get an idea of what my options are. I think its a $150 handling and processing fee and they will send me a refurb one. But i may be out of warranty since i had one of the first 60GB ones that first Xmas.

Im going to hold off sending it until the NDL season is over. That way i can be put on auto in my Dynasties and i can still get my games in.

Anyone else experience this?

Mine goes to no signal all the time. If I pop the disk out and then put it back in the signal returns.

I wish mine was that easy. I tried a new cable. Tried it on a new TV. Everything i could think of. Again no issues on component just when IM trying to connect to HDMI.

BTW, 1080i on Component cables vs HDMI is like night and day. Menus are larger on Component and the view is less of the full widescreen too. Almost zoomed in a bit.

When you say component cables, do you mean the regular red/white/yellow? or do you mean the HD Component cables (blue/green/yellow/sound)? Cuz I use the HDcomp and I haven't seen much difference than with HDMI, just wondering if maybe I should try HDMI.

Another fallen soldier.

Only a matter of time before mine bites the dust as well.

the HD (blue/green/yellow/sound) is closer to the yellow red and white than the HDMI. While the HD component is still better, it doesn't compete with HDMI in my opinion. SPECIALLY on a 1080p TV

Weird....I have a 1080p I just got a few weeks ago (upgraded), and I didn't see much difference. I guess I'm confused, cuz the game only outputs in 720p....the only game I've played so far that outputs at 1080p was The Show 08 (I'm bummed this year's didn't).

just go buy a 20 dollar cable and you will be able to tell the difference even though the game doesnt fully take advantage of 1080p.

I've got an HDMI that came with the TV, I'll check it out when I get home.

I get "no signal" probably a 1/3 of the time I turn the system on...I use a 1080p with HDMI. I just turned off the TV and turn it back on and it fixes it everytime. Sounds like your problem may be alittle more serious though.

Seems quite a few are having to pay the 150 to get a refurb one lately... :(

Only problem (knock on wood) is my harddrive crashed once a few months back. Just had to replace that one, only issue I've had.
