Man, you coaches think way too much. Now I know why you guys have no idea how to handle fourth down and PAT's ... you are always looking for some intrinsic reason, not facts.

It was money. That is the number one reason and think beyond THIS contract. Every other reason (recruiting, facilities, etc) falls way, way behind money.

It's business.

Maybe so, but the way he acted and the things he said were heartless. As the guy said in the video, some of those kids came from thousands of miles away and are suddenly told that their program is gone. he's also been proven to be lying about this, based on text messages and memos that are coming out.

I agree with you trendon. I question the "facilities" arguments that people have now too. Most D1 if not all programs have improved/comparable facilities. Not often you see a program have a terrible weight room, or locker room. The only differences now are art/trophies. All dollars that influence movement. Like nick was alluding to earlier about the type of kid OSU recruits, not many top flight Oregon/Washington kids go to OSU anymore. It's a slugfest in California for all the pac12 schools. OSU, WSU, CU, Utah all get the leftovers in the West. We assume Riley will get more in state Nebraska players, will be interesting to see how he does when he gets the top players instead of the Oregon scraps.

Well, Nebraska pretty much gets ALL of the players that they want from Nebraska, South Dakota, and - to a lesser extent - Iowa. I can't remember the last time they lost out on a recruiting battle for a top prospect from Nebraska.

Never really paid much attention, but just noticed Les Miles's record at LSU is 103-28 in 10 seasons, pretty amazing. Not sure a coach with that resume has ever gotten less respect, and maybe deservedly so

You're wrong about facilities Trendon. I have coached kids the past two years that come back to our campus ranting and raving about the facilities and uniforms. It's all most kids care about anymore. Our QB Brady White's biggest reason for picking ASU, their uniforms and his chance to start right away. I don't think Riley is hurting for money and he has been offered some big contracts from other programs. I think he is tired of being second fiddle to Oregon and thinks he can win in the sorry ass Big Ten.

MIke Riley will be 68 in four years. This White kid will be 21. The fact that you are even comparing them once again corroborates my initial point: football coaches are out to space.

Is pressure at Nebraska enough to make you age seven years in four years?

No you're an idiot. Riley was not persuaded by Nebraska's facilities. I am saying it is a better place to coach because of the facilities to lure recruits. Also I think Oregon being as good as they are has a lot to do with it.

I got that. I can subtract well enough. Adding? Not so much, apparently.

I tell our HC to go for it all the time on fourth down.

What I can't stand is the run up the centers ass on fourth down. All the beef is out there.

Here it is in text form.
TWITTER LETTER TO MIKE RILEY (WHOEVER THAT IS)
HI.
Congratulations on taking my job from me, I hope you’re happy with yourself. I know it’s not your fault BUT I HATE YOU ANYWAY.
Even though you are mean I’ve decided to tell you what you need to know about your new job.
The best thing: UNLIMITED KHAKIS AND HOODIES. Check the walk-in closet behind Tim Miles’ office by the Coke machine. OH GOD I MISS IT SO.
I’ve heard there is free bubble gum near Shawn Eichorst’s office, but nobody knows where that is.
Most fans are good. Some are impatient, some are old and don’t like noise, but most are fine. The ones who leave early are assholes, though.
IMPORTANT: DON’T HIRE YOUR BROTHER. OR AT LEAST MY BROTHER.
Your boss won’t give you a specific number of games you have to win to not get fired, but here’s a hint: IT’S AT LEAST TEN.
When you finish in the Top 20, they will require you to start finishing in the Top 15. When you do that, the Top 10. And then the Playoff.
And if you make the Playoff a couple of times but lose, TAKE A WILD GUESS ABOUT WHAT THEY WILL REQUIRE NEXT.
So while they say they just want you to get the program over the hump, there are actually about 37 humps, EACH ONE WAITING TO MAKE YOU SAD.
IMPORTANT: ASSUME ALL MICROPHONES ARE “HOT” EVEN WHEN YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT THE ASSHOLES WHO LEAVE GAMES EARLY. especially then, actually
Oh -- if people say that your real job is to lead young men & get high graduation rates & run a clean program, I WANT YOU TO LAUGH AT THEM.
NO, I WANT YOU TO STAND UP AND POINT AT THEM AND LAUGH MANIACALLY UNTIL THEY CRY AND LEAVE THE ROOM.
BECAUSE SUNDAY THEY HAD A 45 MINUTE PRESS CONFERENCE ABOUT HOW I GOT FIRED FOR NOT WINNING ENOUGH GAMES AND CHAMPIONSHIPS. AND THAT WAS IT.
OK, good luck I guess. If you have questions call me at 1-800-IM-GETTING-SEVEN-MILLION-DOLLARS-TO-NOT-WORK-SO-FIGURE-IT-OUT-YOURSELF-SUCKA.
Or maybe I'll stick around for a little while to help you. I haven't decided yet.
BYE.

UAB's leading WR and RB are visiting IU this weekend. They're immediately eligible and don't count against the 25 scholarship limit for the recruiting class. I guess they got over being heartbroken pretty quickly.

Ya I know I'm feeding a troll, but it's kinda fun when you know they aren't going to win.
