You're gonna have to elaborate more than that... Even the guy who can't think said something
a few guys would quit the league if it happened. we lose too many owners and thats it... the amount of work gm does for dead teams is insane

You don't think interest would decline if you tried to build something only to be fired and have to start over with guys you never drafted or signed or traded for? Especially in situations, in a sim world, where the firing may not be warranted at all.

Why do you think people would quit?

Not sure I understand your last statement either about dead team gms?

That's assuming everyone is currently "trying"

Why do you assume guys wouldn't quit? Not the core guys who are here posting daily or the guys who are putting in tons of work on OOTP, they'll be fine. But not everyone is doing that.

Sorry I'm back, had to shower real quick.

Who's to say that WE can't control the firings? NDL Coaches report style. You need a certain level of success each year, or each 3 year period etc to stay. Base it off your owners personality:

If he's (and I don't know their personalities in the game) Strict, then you have to get A. If he's Lenient you only need B, if he's in the middle, you have to get C. And it's not just by wins, it's by a combo of wins, budget performance, etc.

Set it up as a dumbed down version of the season goals we had in NDL.

That was no one is unjustly fired, like you said. If you're in a rebuild, you just need to show progress, because you can get points for improving your budget, moving up the division etc

You may see some guys quit if they lost the team they've been tied to for so long. Also, if crappy teams fire their GM, there's a chance no one would even want to leave their teams for that vacant spot.
You'd have a lot more Marty Ramirez types getting signed a lot earlier on in free agency when a guy needs to make the playoffs this year or he gets the ax. You'd have way less stud 25/26 year old guys getting traded to start yet another rebuild. People would know they're on the clock when they take a job, no 10 year rebuilds and no tanking.
this is what bothers me most about league, especially stud players being moved when their contract is still very manageable.

I think the free agency issue is different. The demands of some of the veterans are out of whack. A 32-34 year old wants a 6 year 18 million dollar deal.

these are some of the real problems with our league, question is how do they get fixed?

at least seeit is thinking outside the box. He and I can't be the only ones who care about the problems mentioned above.

who mentioned, restart..? you?
shel311 wrote:f you do this, you may as well do a restart with it, it would make the most sense.
at this point a restart would kill the league. Slowly implementing some changes wouldn't be that difficult for guys to handle. This is just baseball...you throw the ball, hit the ball and field the ball!

Think about it this way though. You may or may not (I have no clue) wanted one a few years ago. Same with Shel, and anyone who has said they wanted one (jokingly or not). Some of that, had to have been derived from where your team was or wasn't.

If your (not saying you, saying in general) team sucks, and you just can't find a way to get them to win, and you get fired... You get a restart. You'll end up in a new place, with a new team. You can go wherever is open and restart. You get a new owner, you get a new team, you have a new set of expectations. Don't like all the open teams? Even more reason to have a better record or whatever it is that we decided to use as the vetting process, so that you get first dibs so to speak

THEN DON'T GET FIRED. You consistently make the playoffs (or are close), your rebuild was fast, and you keep a good management of your finances. You're not exactly the type of person who is gonna get fired. Just keep hitting your goals and you'd be fine

Yes...the outside the box thinking of a restart.
BigRy wrote:at this point a restart would kill the league
I think this idea would be wayyyyyyyyy worse. A restart may get a couple of guys to quit right away. But for the guys who stick around, I'm 99.9% certain immersion would be at all time highs the 1st couple of seasons.

I don't see any chance if we restart that we'd have our 1st or 2nd season thread be as small as the 2031 thread.

People have complained about Solid vets not getting signed, or people not signing them because of comp picks, etc.

You can't tell me that people (myself included) wouldn't begin to sign more (not necessarily all) of those players knowing that they may be fired at the end of the year if they don't go down swinging. People would actually trade for the McCartys of the world before a whole season goes by because they know that's the difference between 85 wins and 90 wins and 90 wins might get them into the playoffs.

Then we'd find ourselves making moves to save our jobs and not necessarily making moves that are best for the team, because the 2 are different.
