But then when it comes to pre marital sex or something that is against there religion, a lot of these same people that are so against gay marriage certainly weren't all about upholding the no premarital sex part of the bible.

That's a good idea.sixpackdan101 wrote:Tomorrow I will talk to him about this. I will ask him why, from a non-christian standpoint, gay marriage is wrong. I shall bring the information to everybody here when I get it from him.
ultimately between the 2 people and that doesn't affect your life in anyway so you shouldn't judge or worry about it???fsupenguin wrote:but to classify marriage as something shared by 2 men or 2 women is.............................
I suppose we have different opinions of what affects us then. When a nation makes a move to not just allow but embrace this it does and will affect the coming generations. If you believe as I do that marriage is the union of a man and woman under God becoming one with the purpose of working together as a team to reach others for Him, and that we are now talking about calling two men or two woman who chose to live a life in direct conflict with the word of this God the same thing. You should be able to see why it is an issue to some. I don't hate them for it, I have nothing but love and very deep concern for there souls, but I will not support the promotion of this lifestyle any more than I would going against the 10 commandments.shel311 wrote:ultimately between the 2 people and that doesn't affect your life in anyway so you shouldn't judge or worry about it???fsupenguin wrote:but to classify marriage as something shared by 2 men or 2 women is.............................

Where does God say this is in direct conflict with his intentions for marriage?fsupenguin wrote:I suppose we have different opinions of what affects us then. Exactly how I feel,DRiccio21 wrote:i'm catholic and i believe in God but to think that i should have a say in how someone else lives their life (Assuming its not hurting someone else) is incredibly conceited to me. do whatever you want if it makes you happy.

Nietzsche once said that Christianity could be a great idea if it weren't for all the Christians (paraphrase). Shell, the problem is that we ALL fall short of the perfection in God's eyes. Some fall a little further short than others and thus we get your observation above. I can't answer why some pick and choose other than they just don't 'get it.' I can only hold those people accountable to their actions. In my last church we had an elder that was cheating on his wife. The church applied biblical principles and booted him and the woman he cheated with. After 6 months of working with them, we reconciled both back into the congregation. The point here is this: As Christians we need to hate sin but still love the sinner. No one is beyond redemption.shel311 wrote:I just think it's funny how people can pick and choose what parts of the bible they agree with and don't, and then can agree on certain parts so vehemently, like being against this.

I would say thats true mainly because until recently voting was done primarily by a different generation...OracleHCR wrote:
The answer to your convoluted question is because it is the vast majority of americans who are against it. That's only if you go by voting records and every poll that has been done.
