Also, anybody going to USA-Guatemala on July 3rd in Nashville? Ted?

I will actually be going, it appears, on an AA press pass (w possibly a photog bib as well), I'm pretty excited. Will be a great networking opportunity and might open a few more doors for me.
I didn't know you were an alcoholic. Glad you're getting help at least

That joke fell a little short, my friend.

I'm surprised no one noticed or at least posted, but Gedion Zelalem is now officially an American player.

not quite yet. they need to lock him up. you aren't locked into a country until you play a non-friendly game with a national team. so either a WC qualifier, WC, or Gold Cup match. He will be on the Gold Cup team this summer and will play in a game to lock him in.

His one time switch was approved last week. He's locked in whether or not he ever suits up in an official match.

for all the premier league fans. Sunday is basically important for just 2 games. Manchester United vs Hull City and West Ham vs Newcastle. Newcastle could possibly have the greatest collapse in premier league history. They've gotten only 1 point in their last 10 matches. Hull City have to win though to have any shot at survival. ManU aren't playing for anything really.

West Ham will probably beat Newcastle... but the big game to watch will be Man U vs Hull. It will be on NBC at 10AM.

United will beat Hull, LVG knows if they lose that the PL could make inquiries if they feel that they didn't field a full XI. That said, I hope Newcastle gets sent down. They deserve it for what they did to Pardew.

Peay/Baker

Either of you guys fans of Indy Eleven or have gone to a match yet? We have a bunch of guys heading up tomorrow night for the Lamar Hunt US Open match at 7:30 pm.

Looks like we may run into each other a lot in this tourney, as they try to keep it regional as possible for as long as possible. The winner of LCFC/Indy gets the Chicago Fire in Chicago in two weeks.

"Getting people from Switzerland to the U.S. can be tricky. The Swiss won’t extradite people to the United States for tax evasion, and in general, the Swiss are loathe to extradite people for purely financial crimes. But U.S. officials expect these FIFA people will be handed over. It’s almost like Swiss said, “We do not agree with your American obsession with financial crimes, and we usually stay out of matters of foreign intrigue... wait, did you say ‘FIFA’? Oh, we’ll help you get those bastards.” "

So I made my broadcast debut tonight. Was pretty nervous but hopefully I did ok. Normally we have a pro stream for our matches (which includes ESPN's Bob Valvano) but as this was a Cup match on the road and not vs a USL team, we got permission to do a stream. Myself and our AO prez were asked to do it. Was a blast, one of the most enjoyable things I've ever done.

Match starts about 1:12 in, both goals came late in extra time (about 3:42 mark on). We beat Indy XI 2-0 to advance to the 4th round, we play in Chicago against the Fire next month. Huge for us in our first season.

The FIFA voting process is possibly one of the silliest things I've ever seen from a "professional" organization.

- They are called up in alphabetical order, by nation, and told to vote at either booth 1 or booth 2.
- All 209 voters have to each walk up and hand write a vote.
- The votes are manually added up by a group of people in the front of the room.

(very high school prom like)

- The first vote had to come back with 140 votes or more to declare a winner.
- Blatter had 133. This means there is a 2nd vote... which apparently happens immediately using the exact same method?
- This vote only requires a simple majority.

This process is so lame. The only thing worth noting is that Prince Ali gets to officially be referred to as HRH Prince Ali bin al-Hussein on the ballot. How do you not vote for the Royal Highness?
