Statement to Our Users
Media reports yesterday raised issues concerning an employee from another fantasy site participating in our NFL Sunday Million contest last week. Trust with our players is core to our business and has always been our primary concern so we take any potential game integrity issue very seriously.
Based on everything we know thus far, there is no evidence indicating that the integrity of FanDuel’s contest was in any way compromised, or that non-public information was used for unfair advantage. That said, the incident has raised questions about the trust-based relationship we have with our players so just relying on what we know right now isn’t enough. That’s why we’re taking the following steps:
We have permanently banned our employees from playing any daily fantasy games for money, on any site. We will also require all customers to confirm that they are not an employee of any other third party fantasy site, and if they are, they will not be allowed to access our site.
We have asked former federal judge and United States Attorney General Michael Mukasey to review the facts and evaluate our internal controls, standards and practices. His mandate is to conduct a review to identify ways that we can ensure we are doing the right things to maintain the trust we have with our players. He will have the freedom and authority to look at any areas he thinks appropriate. We will ask him and his team at the law firm Debevoise & Plimpton to develop a set of recommendations for us to adopt and to highlight any areas where our controls can be strengthened.
We are also creating an internal advisory board, led by Michael Garcia of the Kirkland & Ellis law firm and former United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York. The advisory board will provide on-going advice, recommendations and guidance to ensure that we are always taking every step possible to ensure the integrity of our site and our games. We also look forward to speaking with regulators across the nation about how to define the right set of rules for our industry as it continues to grow.
FanDuel is one of the fastest growing companies in the world. The way fans have embraced our games is a clear sign that fantasy sports is here to stay.
It’s our job to ensure that as our company grows, so does our ability to ensure that our fans can be confident in the sanctity and integrity of every game, every day.

Good for them.
That is what companies should do in situations like this.
Take the bull by the horns and don't wait around. Me personally, I will have much more respect for them for doing this.

That's the response I expected from FD. Not so much DK, though I'm sure they'll follow along now.
BTW, Packsy would be proud.

what else would you expect them to say?
that's about as generic lawyer talk as it gets.
there is so much that needs to be cleaned up and so many ways that joe public is taken advantage of in DFS. this is just them covering their asses so the golden goose doesn't get slaughtered.
if their employees aren't involved in games on any sites anymore, nothing stops their brother or their cousin or their best friend from taking the info and using it. nobody knows if these guys have been selling the info to other 'sharks'. not letting guys play on other sites seems like a nice step, but it really doesn't effect their biz at all and it doesn't even really clean up the game.

Re: Fanduel / Draft Kings Discussion
Hate to think about it... but there's a pretty good chance that is exactly what could have been going on... or would still go on. Not saying Ethan did it, but he was fairly tight with Notorious, Dan (db730, the podcast guy) and headchopper... among others. That would be huge if it came out that this was going on, but it would be shocking.DRiccio21 wrote:what else would you expect them to say?

Re: Fanduel / Draft Kings Discussion
I read the first two pages of this DK/FD guy winning all that money and I think I would understand the bible in Latin much better than the theories and what not you guys are talking about.
I was going to play some on these sites but I am thinking I am not ready for it

i don't like seeing people get screwed over.
DFS is fine for what it is, but alot of the stuff they do rubs me the wrong way.

put 50-100 bucks in and play 1 dollar games and hope you get lucky enough to get the 50 back out. just don't expect to make a fortune doing it and use it for entertainment.
if you're going to use it for a money making tool, be damn sure you understand it and are crunching enough numbers to try to get the probability in your favor or find other novices. problem is, if you're going to crunch the numbers, it takes some time and that often isn't worth the end pay out.
again, i've done well on it and so have others on here but we're playing at a negative expected return. meaning the more we play, the less likely we are to keep our money.
as long as you don't have grandiose ideas of making millions like they promote on tv, it's crazy fun and you should go for it

Re: Fanduel / Draft Kings Discussion
Don't plan on becoming a millionaire off of a website. I would do it to help pass the time while expecting to lose what I put in. If I put in $100 and am able to play for 4 or 5 months then I got my monies worth.DRiccio21 wrote:GeorgesGoons wrote: I was going to play some on these sites but I am thinking I am not ready for it

Re: Fanduel / Draft Kings Discussion
DRiccio, can you share some of the strategy you use to pick your teams? I pretty much watch the Fantasy show on ESPN2 before the games and about 12:45 before the games start, submit my entries. I really dont put too much into it and most times I at least win my money back (knocks on wood). Im just curious about the strategy you were talking about.DRiccio21 wrote:GeorgesGoons wrote: I was going to play some on these sites but I am thinking I am not ready for it

Re: Fanduel / Draft Kings Discussion
I try to use how many fantasy points per game they average and then look at the matchup and see how bad their opponent is against that position.
Hasn't really worked out that well, so I am all ears on a strategy also.

Re: Fanduel / Draft Kings Discussion
i think Reign has posted some stuff in the past that you can go back and read.
there is a famous saying 'if you can't find the sucker at the table, it's probably you' i don't say this to be mean to any of you. but all of us, myself included are playing this at a disadvantage. If we're getting our games scooped up by pro's the chances of us winning are about 30%-35% (i'm just making up numbers). if we're lucky enough to play against others of our skill level it's 50%, but you're getting raped on the juice. if you're REALLY lucky you find some real schmo's who forget to fix their lineups or whatever, that's where you have a chance to win.
these 'pros' are taking data points that most of us won't have access to in order to find out which matchups, weather conditions, time of game, etc etc puts their players in the best situation possible. does that mean they can predict the future? no. but they can up their probability by say 4 or 5% and that advantage over you or I in enough games puts them at an enormous advantage.
i don't mean to scare people off, i've said this exact same stuff and debated with Reign about it for 2 or 3 years now.
there are ways you can do it profitably, but it takes hours of work and unless you're putting in 5 figures of bets per night you're rate of return isn't probably high enough for it to be worth your while.
so again, just pick your favorites, cheer if you're lucky enough to win. if you are so lucky to get a good $ amount built up, take out your principle and just enjoy yourself. my only reason for posting these 'warnings' is cause i don't want guys who don't have the money to be thinking they can make a living doing this like the commercials promote.

Don't get me wrong, it's a nice gesture, good intentions, and that's all that matters. But it feels like the amount of times you've given the warning here recently is a bit much as I don't see George or anyone else thinking of going pro.DRiccio21 wrote:my only reason for posting these 'warnings' is cause i don't want guys who don't have the money to be thinking they can make a living doing this like the commercials promote.

Voulgaris has been hilarious.
Even though he wants it all to be legal and has valid points, you can just tell he's so jealous and hates on DFS pros because what they do is legal.
