NDL "actual" Hall of Fame

I think this could be cool.

maybe like 3-5 coaches per YEAR

discuss here what requirements should be.

like maybe you cant be nominated until you have 25-30 seasons coaching.

you have to have 10-15 seasons with a 95 or higher coaches reports

do we add "winning" as an element of requirement...maybe ramp it so the more wins u have the quicker you get in (in combo with your coaches reports of course) but even if you only win 2 games a year you get in.

dunno, just idea's.

either way, the goal (before tom blabbers on with his nonsense ) wouldnt be to have alot of guys there nor to have "clique" guys there but to have it as something cool to kinda look forward to.

Past/Present head commissioners automatically get in due to all the personal time spent on making this league amazing.

Holmey because that goes without saying of his architectural greatness of constructing the great aspects of this league.

I like the minimum seasons coached along with the coaches reports definitely being a factor.

Maybe come up with a Hall of Fame board. Not just commishes but also league members. Then when someone is inducted they automatically become part of the board and have a vote.

We could have some great debates on who is nominated for election. Just because you get nominated, you have to pass a certain percentage to be entered into the Hall from the board.

Love the idea and its been tossed around for a while now. We are on fire with getting things in line and activity up to a high level!!

I hear you, but this isnt the BCS.

There is gripes in real life on who gets nominated and who has to wait that was way overdue in getting in.
I think that makes it an awesome aspect of the Hall and very realistic to any other hall of fame.

Just my opinion of course and its the opposite of yours like always. Shocking!!

could do it like the other hall of fames, you must be removed from playing 5 years, or in our case, maybe say have been playing for a minimum of 5 seasons (consecutive , maybe games instead of seasons -> 15 seasons of NDL).

like cnasty said, make it like the heisman trophy, where once you win (are in) you get a vote

its not hard to whip up a page for it, as all past info is already saved for the regular HOF

Just throwing more ideas out there:

Maybe the entire league can vote for the CANDIDATES who are eligible based on the criteria.Then they can be put up for vote by the board.

The top 10,or whatever number we decide, vote getters get passed through for voting by the board.

Then a number is set on how many we accept each time. Say 3 are inducted each time. The 7 that didnt make it will have to be renominated again to make the ballot against the new members that now meet the criteria.

It will be very realistic in that some coaches dont make the percentage needed and makes the board really dig into the really deserving recipients on that vote.

Who is going to be the Goose Gossage that deserved it for so long, but never made the percentage?
Who is going to be the Curt Schilling and the debates rage on post season performance over consistency for so many years??

This is a heck of an idea and will just add another greatness element to an already amazing league.

Im sure we can get someone to make some specific color jackets for inductees and Hoos will make a highlight video of the event. Then maybe if we have any NDL carpenters, we can have them construct a bust of the coach.

I've been saying this, said it on teh boards quite a few times, that we should do this.

Have a small committee that would vote on the nominees, not sure how to nominate.

That being said, Holmey, 1st ballot lock, make it happen!!!

I like the voting aspect rather than the formula idea.

Just one thing that I dont like is the 15 consecutive seasons. If someone has to step out for a legitimate reason, going to Iraq or Afghanistan, that shouldnt be held against them.

I dont think you should limit the number to just 3 getting in each time there is a vote, nor just 10 going up for the vote. I'm sure some of you guys that have been here since seasons 1-4 and have done alot to keep the league going shouldnt be limited because of only 3 people get in. I dont know of any other Hall of Fame that limits the amount that get in each year.

We are a league that prides itself on being as true to the real thing so here is the criteria of the college football hall of fame:

Criteria for coach nominees

1. The nominee must exhibit demonstrated citizenship, "carrying the ideals of football forward into his relations with his community and his fellow man with love of his country."[2]
2. The nominee must fit one of the following criteria:
1. Be retired from coaching for at least three years
2. Be at least 70 years old and retired
3. Be at least 75 years old
3. The nominee must have held a head coaching position at the collegiate level for at least ten years.
4. The nominee must hold at least a .600 career record over the course of 100 games or more.

So if that is the real criteria then I'm sure we can come up with something that would mimic real life.

what about if there was a ballot determined by some formula / set of rules, then all previous entries get 5 votes, if anyone makes it over say 65% of the vote, then they get in.

i think that is similar to what baseball does, just an idea though
