Chris Cornell of Soundgarden, dead at age 52
Eddie Vedder, you are the only one left my friend.

Re: Random Discussions
I just heard this, devastating man. Way too young
Re: Random Discussions
At a loss for words, grew up with Soundgarden and Audioslave and Cornell was one of my all time faves. Played a show earlier in the night and family said it was shocking and unexpected. He has been clean for nearly 20 years so would be shocked if its drug related. Sucks man

I think most that talk to me or really read the boards know my love for Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam. After the shock of reading the news my mind went to this. Eddie still drinks and smokes cigs quite a bit and Cornell lived so clean and healthy. You just never know, I just hope Eddie can make it like Neil Young and Bob Dylan have.

Pearl Jam 3rd, Billy will not approve of this!
Never was a fan of the music at the time. I can listen to some of it now but really not a fan of it still.

Those 5 bands were probably half the music I listened to in my teenage years.

Re: Random Discussions
Yea they dominated my cd player with the cassette adapter in my family mini van.
Sprinkle in some Wu Tang, Tu Pac,311, and Outkast when they were good and you had my teenage life.

Re: Random Discussions
I'm 99% sure we've had this discussion before but for me it was:
1. Nirvana - They completely defined the grunge era
2. Pearl Jam
3. Soundgarden
4. Alice in Chains
5. STP

I don't believe Nirvana defined the era. Pearl Jam was just as big if not bigger, Nirvana just jumped to new heights when Kurt unfortunately took his life.

Completely agree and think Nirvana was completely over rated compared to the likes of PJ and STP.wdoupis wrote: I don't believe Nirvana defined the era. Pearl Jam was just as big if not bigger, Nirvana just jumped to new heights when Kurt unfortunately took his life.
Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters are head and shoulders above anything Nirvana ever made imo.

Re: Random Discussions
I completely agree that Foo Fighters are great. They just came along a little later and I was thinking more in terms of the early 90's when that era started. I truly believe that Grohl is one of the most insanely talented people out there and is completely underrated. I read somewhere that the first Foo Fighters album was him and pretty much him only; as in he individually recorded each part for each song and put them together to make the finished product.Cnasty wrote:Completely agree and think Nirvana was completely over rated compared to the likes of PJ and STP.wdoupis wrote: I don't believe Nirvana defined the era. Yup, saw that as well on a documentary about him. He is amazing and on the bucket list for a live show one day.LetsGoPeay wrote:I read somewhere that the first Foo Fighters album was him and pretty much him only; as in he individually recorded each part for each song and put them together to make the finished product.
He is our Lebron of this generation as Shel would put it in his greatness being even under rated. Did I get that right LeShel?
Re: Random Discussions
Grohl in unbelievable but once again Shel roots for the 2nd bestl. I am taking Jack White as the greatest of this generation
