I was discussing this today and how it blew my mind back in the day that an arcade game could rotate and spin like that. I spent way too many quarters on that back in the day.
For those who were too young to know what an "arcade" is

Re: Random Discussions
I need an American comparison type breakdown of what the hell it actually is.
Re: Random Discussions
Ill give it a shot.
So the UK negotiated with the EU brexit so they could leave the EU. The problem is the person they are negotiating with (Theresa May), can't actually deliver. She has to go to the UK parliament with the negotiations and they are voted down HARD... like imagine if the 435 members of congress voted something down 400-35... that is what happened.
So they have a deadline of late March with three options. Ask for another extension from the EU, hard exit without an agreement, or just not leave.
1. The extension is unlikely b/c the EU is already pissed. Why negotiate with a person who can't actually make a deal (May). There is no point. Also the extension has to be agreed to by all countries in the EU so one could technically stop it.
2. The hard exit could happen but the financial repercussions are awful for both. Another major issue is Ireland. If they hard exit there have to be checkpoints between the two. That separates Northern Ireland from Ireland even more and could lead to some very very bad things like what happened during the troubles. This is very bad and a major sticking point for not doing a hard exit.
3. The UK can choose to not leave. EU is fine with this. The UK would have to vote and it would very likely pass. But a lot of parliament still wants brexit so they may not let it get to a vote.
hope that helps.

Today they vote on if they want to leave the EU without a deal. They are expected to vote no to this.
They will have a vote tomorrow about asking for another extension (either to May or June) which would be the final one granted. This could happen but some say is unlikely if the UK doesn't have an actual plan on what to do with the extension.

Also you are going to hear about Article 50 a lot. That's the EU article for actually leaving the EU.

For example, European countries in the EU all use the Euro, for ease of use going between countries. I'm sure there are plenty of other tjing/benefits the EU countries have, but don't know all of those details. It's basically a group of countries coming together to make things easier for doing business across countries.

Why does the UK want to leave the EU?
Would this be like Texas wanting to leave the US and be their own independent government?

Re: Random Discussions
EU member countries citizens can move freely and live in whichever country they want. The UK wants to have all the free trade and such they get from the EU but they do not want the immigration part of it. There is more to it of course but that is the main worry of most. The UK also uses the pound and not the euro so thats not much to them
