NCAA Rosters Question

I know there is a lot of expertise on this forum so I would appreciate if someone could help me.

For the last five years I've been downloading the roster file off the internet on to my max drive, crushing it, and then moving it to my PS2 memory card. I keep getting told the files I can download from these sites where you pay for it are for the Shark Port and won't work with a Max Drive. Is this true?

Can someone tell me if for the last five years or so if there were different roster files made for the Shark Port and Max Drive for the rosters on NCAA Football? I just can't imagine that.
