He isn’t being removed and he will be re-elected. Shows how crazy this political world we live in right now.
All this will just make it 100 times worse with people acting foolish.
100% agree with both of you here.
I was sitting outside having a nice martini in 30° weather while enjoying a cigar thinking whether I wanted to post here or not and what I wanted to say.
Most of you know I am a Republican and lean right in most ways. With that being said, the following is with a right leaning bias so take it as you will.
I have never seen so many adults act like 2 year olds being told they can't have that candy at the checkout lane. This goes for both sides. The unintelligent use of meme's and inability to come up with a rational argument just shows how dumb America has become. The left has hated President Trump from the get go. The right has defended President from the get go no matter what. This country has become so divided that we would hate our own family based on their political leanings.
To the left: get over it. He will remain president and it is your duty to go out in November to get him removed. That is the only way he will be removed from being the President. You will never convince Republicans to align with you. Your goal is to bring in the independents.
To the right: you better go out and vote in November. The left are hell bent on getting him removed and their only way is thru the election. If you don't go out and have record voter turnout, you'll get Biden/Warren/Sanders/Clinton or whoever wins their nominee. You will never convince Democrats to align with you. You goal is to bring in the independents.
To the independents: I hope you are paying attention and can make up your own minds without the help of dumb headlines and talking heads on CNN/MSNBC/FOX News. This is your election to decide who leads us for another 4 years, choose wisely.
Bama (Derek) and I was discussing this as we were getting another Victory Royale (Fortnite). Derek and I are on opposite ends of the political lines as they come. However, we both respect each other and are able to put our points of view out without the name calling and bashing that has become so commonplace today. He stated that he thinks the farmers will turn on the Republican party (Trump). As someone from "fly over country" I can say this is further from the truth. One of my good buddies works for Cargill who deals with farmers on a daily basis and states as much. Right leaning states will stay Republican, left leaning states will stay Democrat. There are about 5-8 states that will decide the election, if you look at polls of how independents view this impeachment we may see another 4 more years of President Trump.
There is talk that Pelosi will not send this to the Senate if she doesn't agree with how they will handle this impeachment. If that doesn't say this is 100% political I don't know what would. I say, "Good job Democrats in the House of Representatives, you did what you said you will." Now let the Senate do their job. If she doesn't push this to the Senate this hurts the Democrats in my opinion. The Democrats are losing ground in how the American people are seeing this.
A recent CNN Poll (yesterday or the day before) showed that Democrats have supported impeachment and removal sitting at 90% in a mid-November poll. It currently sits at 77%, a 13% drop right after the hearings is not a good sign. The overall poll shows a 5% drop (from 50% to 45%) for impeach and removal from that same time period. The latter poll was right after the conclusion of the House Intelligence Committee's public hearings. Opposition to impeach and remove went from 43% to 47%. This is from a CNN poll, a poll that Mr. Tubin who is a political talking head at CNN said he did not agree or believe the poll. As a Republican who is against this whole impeachment proceedings, this just shows how out of touch these talking heads are.
As someone that leans right in their political views it was hard to hear the Democrats and talking heads consistently say, "the facts" over and over. These facts would not hold up in a court of law. If you honestly believe they would you should be scared if you ever have a trial by your peers. There was way too much circumstantial evidence to say it was a "fact" rather than presenting it as it is, circumstantial. This whole ordeal started with Quid Pro Quo, later dubbed bribery. If it was bribery, then why wasn't that included in the impeachment articles? Bribery is one of the things our founding fathers feared and included in the Constitution, so why not include that?
This whole hearing reeks of partisan BS, from both sides. And I should probably look in the mirror as I say this is 100% partisan as it would be hard for me to believe he obstructed Congress and abused power. As for the obstruction of Congress, President Trump imposed Executive Privilege. He is completely within his right to do so, President Obama did the same with the Fast and Furious hearings. The Executive Branch imposed executive privilege when the legislative branch requested evidence and witnesses. The proper way of going about this is allowing the Judicial Branch to render a verdict. In the Fast and Furious hearings it went to the Judicial Branch. The difference here is the Legislative Branch couldn't or wouldn't wait on a decision from the Judicial Branch because it could have taken months and it would have been right in the middle of the presidential race.
Going back to Pelosi's possibility of not sending this to the Senate. I see this backfiring on her big time. If she doesn't send it, it reeks of political bias. Senate could agree that the 4 people that Chuck Schumer wants to see interviewed/cross exam gets called before Senate. President Trump gets Schiff, whistle blower and the Biden's to appear as well to appease Pelosi. President Trump invokes executive privilege and the 4 don't get to testify while Schiff, whistle blower and Biden's have to testify. This has the makings of blowing up in the face of the Democrats. This scenario is assuming that the Judicial Branch upholds executive privilege.
What I see happening is we get a party line Senate vote and we move on. There will be another investigation in March-July with hopes of impeaching him again. I don't think President Trump gets re-elected, as I think this has tainted the presidential vote in November. But, whoever gets nominated from the Democratic party only gets 1 term. I think the Republicans in 2021-2024 most likely impeach whoever gets nominated.
