People have it wayyyyy too good for an actual Civil War.

Right now, we're just seeing the extremists from both sides over these past few months. They're in the extreme minority. Sure those numbers could grow to a degree.

But unless half or more of Americans are literally unable to put food on the table for their kids because things have gotten so bad economically, we're just too fat and happy and have things going way too well for us to get to THAT point.

Yep

Don't get me wrong, personal accountability here. Everyone of these fools who stormed the Capitol are responsible for their own actions and hopefully can be prosecuted to the fullest extent.

But Trump 100% has been egging this on for quite some time.

Its not just Trump, he can't do this alone. I agree with George when he says the media tries to lump groups such as conservatives together. But there's A LOT of these racist, bigots and uneducated idiots running around enabling him.

I unfortunately saw the video of the woman who was shot. She was hit in the neck and was dead within seconds. They can do all the CPR they want.

The DOD refused the request for National Guard troops, which at first pissed me off--until it was later clarified that they did so to avoid allowing Trump to have direct authority over the National Guardsmen on site. They may have staved off something worse.

VA governor sent VANG and 200-300 VA State troopers. These cosplaying traitorous terrorists are about to find out what being in a warzone is actually like if they try to do anything stupid.

Trump should be removed from office tonight via the 25th Amendment.

Honestly, it wouldn't be a good thing to do it. There are still plenty of die hards out there, and if you didn't know.....Republicans have guns, and lots of them. Just get to the 20th and have him arrested if he doesn't leave.

I loved his policies but man, these last 2 months have become a joke. And that is coming from someone that believes that some of the votes shouldn't be counted as teh changing of the election rules didn't go thru the proper procedures....because of covid

Lets get bumbling Biden in there and deal with him and Kamala for 4 years and lets get a conservative that can unite the country....Noem/Haley or Haley/Noem

My concern is that, given the things he said in his video tonight, he is going to continue to stoke the fires over the next 14 days. When they verify the votes tonight, he will have only one way to stay in the White House. His words have invited chaos, they have incited violence. He's a man unhinged and I worry what he may do if he turns into a severely wounded animal.

Also, Omar announced she is writing up articles of impeachment for him, so....yeah.

As for uniting the country, I think that ship has sailed. The GOP allowed this man to divide us for four years and they are going to have to pick up the pieces for a long time. Today may have done more damage to their chances in 2022 and 2024 than anything else could have. After what happened today, if they continue to try to "protest" against the votes tonight, it's going to light a fire under the Democratic party that won't go out anytime soon.

The GOP is not solely at fault here. You had democrats from the Intel Committee going on TV saying they have 100% proof that Trump was a russian asset. This has been the most divided we have been as a nation since the Civil War, and it falls on the Democrats, GOP and the Media for allowing us to get here

I'm sorry George, but this isn't a "both sides" situation. Trump has broken the law repeatedly, and has never been held accountable. He never divested his company, he lies multiple times a day, and the GOP leadership ate it up. Now, when he's tanking their power in the Senate, they suddenly want to part ways with him? No. And don't forget, Mueller said he would have charged him with crimes if not for the fact that the DoJ told him not to (which was being run by Barr).

There is no "both sides"ing this one. Trump is a disease, and everyone who enabled him in the government needs to be held accountable.

Just curious what laws were broken repeatedly?
Dozens upon dozens of violations of the Hatch Act by both he, his family, and his aides/staffers
Obstruction of justice
Conspiracy to defraud the United States
Numerous campaign finance violations (his former lawyer gave him up on that)
Tax fraud (which he WILL be prosecuted for once he leaves office, SDNY has already said as much)
Failure to divest himself from his businesses (violation of the Constitution)

Um....

....he WAS impeached. He was acquitted by a group of REPUBLICAN SENATORS who said, before they had heard a single piece of evidence, that they were going to acquit him. He also wasn't charged with some of the items because, as Mueller stated, he was told he couldn't do so by the DOJ. Guarantee you he will be charged with some of them once he leaves office.

Oh, and the Hatch Act violations require the Senate to charge him. Which, again, his enablers weren't going to do. Which all goes back to my original point:

Donald Trump was enabled at every step by McConnell, Graham, and the rest of the GOP, and they should be held accountable.

And one side note: Hawley should be expelled and his career ended for his actions yesterday. He helped incite an insurrection and then tried to continue stoking the flames as he gave his "speech" directly into the camera.

C'mon Jsence. He was impeached by DEMOCRAT CONGRESSMEN. There were congressmen that said he was guilty before seeing a single piece of evidence.

And honestly that's a I read of your BS post, it shows you can't objectively think.

I have heard the 25th amendment being thrown around. I think that's a horrible idea. The crazies on the right will come out in force and I believe we can hold off for 14 days to get rid of him. He has completely lost it in the last 2 months.
