I ran through the select a course stuff and picked out some of my favorite courses that I've played, want to play and a few of the created courses by some of the best course designers for 2K. (FYI - there's a contest that goes on each year for course design on TGC tours... we could just start grabbing the tour quality sim courses there too)

Tobacco Road Golf Club
Payne's Valley CC
Quincy Downs Country Club
Claymotte Ridge
A Tradition Like No Other (Gimmicky name for Augusta)
The Coeur d'Alene Resort
Whistling Straits - Ryder Cup 2021 - TMT
Turnberry Ailsa 2020
Thieves Landing (built by crazycanuck, with help from pro gamer Nadeshot)
Bandon Dunes 2019 Lidar
Firestone Country Club
Erin Hills (Tour)
Valhalla Golf Club (L)
Crooked Stick GC Lidar
Club Belvedere, France
Harbour Town Heritage Course
Spyglass Hill GC (Tour)
Mission Hills Rancho Mirage CA.
Banff Springs GC Alberta
Purgatory Golf Club (L)
Ironfall Golf Club, USA
Salzburg Country Club
The Kermode Club - Whistler, BC
Scalett Inn, Germany
Old Pac Trails at Bandon

Crazy Courses (not totally insane, but would only recommend 1-2 in a season)
Kong Valley - recreation of Skull Island. Tough to get to the green, but easy putts once you're there.
The Highlands - Thin fairways with doglegs... will have to shot shape
McFear's Quarry Course - Lots of elevation / sand. Punishing if you're not accurate off of the tee.
Hounds Tooth Point - Probably the most punishing course in the game. Tight fairways with cliffs.

I'll add these to the Beer league as well.

What does LIDAR mean? I've seen that on a couple of courses

LIDAR is a method of scanning the course in using some kind lasers. I don't know the full details, but a LIDAR course is built through scanning and other courses are actually hand made by physically moving objects. All of the dream team design stuff on TGC Tours is handmade.

My general experience from my simulator system was that LIDAR is highly accurate for specific course layout/design, but lacked the visual details that hand building it can have.

makes sense. I knew what LIDAR meant in my old field of flying UAV's. Pretty much the same with this in a sense.

Hounds Tooth Point was fun. I playedd it with the furthest tees and hardest pin location. Shot a +3, had one hole I took a triple bogey on because I got it on the green and it rolled off twice

We used LIDAR at work for tracking positions on the telescope during integration and test.

Anyway - I also heard there are minigolf (or putt-putt if you prefer) courses.

But I haven't actually found how to play those courses or any of the custom ones outside of the societies (haven't investigated that part of the game).

Finished up my first bogey free event and shot my lowest 3 round score to date.. -35.

Only 4 shots from CyborgDan. I need a little more consistency, because I still 3 putt too much (I'm very aggressive with med-long putts) and have too many double or even triple bogeys from being too careless after 1 mistake. Setting my next goal at beating the Cyborg at least once... should be able to check that off by 2023, maybe.

I don’t get the “slow, fast, perfect” thing when you swing. Is that how I push the right analog up? Or after I swing I have to hit a button at a certain time? I was doing fine til “slow” started hooking right.

Start a PGA Tour career. Practice with the same settings we have but turn on putt preview. That'll give you an idea on how to putt. This will also give you some practice on your swing for all other shots as well. Stay away from pitch unless you can hit it 100%, you miss by 2% or more on a swing and you may be 20 yards off your shot.
