Didn't realize how lucky I got the first time I played it and hit it in 2. I started with trend yesterday and tried steal today. My mind immediately goes to Wheel of Fortune and RSTLNE; Shows my age.

thats a pretty sick leap to go from your 3rd line to 4th.
Yeah, finding 2 vowels and eliminating the right consonants helped a ton. I think the strat I'm using is good for words that don't repeat letters. As soon as I hit a repeat letter word, I'm probably toast.
Maybe a unique strat... answer for today in the spoiler below
Spoiler!
STEAM - Steal, steam, steak, stake; All seem like good starts... WoF theory.. get the STE out of the way.
BROWN - Only hit A, so I punted the 2nd word to get an R (strong consonant), O (another likely vowel with A) and N (good ending consonant) ROACH - Now I had the ROA, and the CH ending wasn't eliminated in the 1st two tries, so I fired at it. Failed, but I've ruled out most popular consonant combos I could think of. Focused on OR, since ER was eliminated with the E in the 1st step. Figured higher odds than an O ending or beginning since I'd eliminated the 2nd and 3rd positions, so O in 4th made the most sense there. FAVOR - First thought was Savor, but S was gone. That led me to the answer.
I think the punt on the 2nd word was the key move though. I knew I was drawing blank after the 1st one, even though I got the A. So I it seemed better to get the knowledge of 5 new letters with common uses.
Also... in case others didn't know it, you have to put in actual words. For my 2nd word, I tried to put in a series of letters that didn't make a word and it didn't accept it.
Huh, Iβve actually never thought about not using a letter you already have. Pretty smart if youβre clueless on the word to get the extra letter clue

I guess finding the location could be pretty valuable, but with it being a vowel, it felt like even that may not have been enough helpful info.
I like how the keyboard shades out the letters you've used that aren't in the word. That way when I was guessing, if I were to go click on that letter, I knew it would be wrong. And I treat the word sort of like sudoku in the sense that if the letter I'm using is already shaded yellow in the same column, I also know that word is wrong.

As soon as I posted it, 2 of you guys immediately replied that you got it in 2 steps. I thought I was just a big dummy, which I probably am, but yea there probably was a bit of luck there to get it in 2 steps.

Strong first word Shel... I think I like that better than the few options I was thinking.
Same letters, good 1st words seemingly are stare/taser/rates. You can also go with store or tires. All seem like options with popular letters but also in general, the words are obviously not usually full of the most popular letters. But they do seem like a good start.
Ive read and followed every word of this thread and cant figure out why. I find it riveting despite having zero intention of getting involved. Kinda like OOTP
