New Features vs. Coaching Reports
Alright, I know it's on everyone's mind with the season start just around the corner. Since it seems that these new features are falling under the rules of "moderation"...we all know it doesn't mean that they won't effect the "feeling" the opponent on the other side of these features are going to feel. From re-reading previous posts, opinions seem to be all over the place in regards to using/not using/sometimes using these features.
I think that may people complete their coaching reports with one over-lying thing on their minds after a game: "Did my opponent plays as if they wanted to win at all costs?" I think most guys are mature enough not to give someone a bad report just because they lost...most of the time it's how they lost. I don't think detail is needed there, I assume most of you can think of examples.
With that being said, there is not doubt that some of these features have a large effect on the game/some not so large. Some might feel that utilizing these features my be viewed at trying to win at all costs...the "if it's in the game" ideal. Some might feel that their team might need that extra something to make the game competitive for them. Some of these features are obvious (chew clock, key run left/middle/right, jump the snap, pass defense intercept, big run:aka:fumble like crazy, big hit:aka: injuries galore, etc) and some are not obvious, (hold blocks, option key, catch pass, wrap-up tackle, key pass, etc).
I simply post this, with I'm sure some flaming replies, to remind everyone why we play this game: Because it's a fun game to play, not to mention 2010 is the best it's been on next-gen. Just think before you use any of these new features of what message it might send...better yet, communicate with your opponent BEFORE you play to see how each of you feel about these new features, most guys probably see some of them as perfectly fine to use ...but at least that way, they hopefully won't play into coaching reports at all and we can happily give 5's across the board because we all enjoy this game and stick within the rules...win or lose.

key run left/middle/right That one right there is the only thing that i think is BS all the rest can be a risk/reward thing but the key run shit is garbage. All that is is the line crash on steroids.

I just HATE that when I call a pass, that key RUN shit blows up my play with 3 guys coming in untouched 90% of the time. I get aggravated just thinking about it.
Luckily, in my latest scrims, I haven't seen ANYONE use it at all. Bravo to those guys!!!

Re: New Features vs. Coaching Reports
Oh, I use it on the pass all the time, but I honestly don't really see much of a difference either way. The same can't be said for the run crap.
Re: New Features vs. Coaching Reports
I havent had anyone just come in untouched so I do not think anyone is using it which is excellent for the league.
Re: New Features vs. Coaching Reports
how do you do these new options? I know game plan, but I don't see any key left/key right/key pass option

On defense, hold down L2 before the snap, you have 4 options to key on: Run left/run mid/run right/Pass.Bernie32 wrote:how do you do these new options? I know game plan, but I don't see any key left/key right/key pass option
Just don't use the 3 run ones and you'll be fine, LOL.

LOL, I just use that to key a particular receiver, never even noticed anything elseshel311 wrote:On defense, hold down L2 before the snap, you have 4 options to key on: Run left/run mid/run right/Pass.Bernie32 wrote:how do you do these new options? But, I tinkered with it at first and so did everyone else i played, obviously.
But now, I'm glad to say that I haven't seen anyone use it at all in the last week or 10 days or so of scrims, so that is great news.

Re: New Features vs. Coaching Reports
I don't use the key on run feature but people do use it when I am inside their 10. Would you consider this ok? I don't do it anywhere, even if down by 100.

Re: New Features vs. Coaching Reports
It's not nearly as bad. I wouldn't dock points if it was used a couple of times when I'm inside the 10. I'm usually so paranoid of this feature(which is dumb cause no one is using it on me lol) on short yardage situations that I just pass, lol.ChampDizzle wrote:I don't use the key on run feature but people do use it when I am inside their 10. I had someone use it on me a few times, last time they went right and I did a toss left, TD!

That's the only way I've been able to beat a run right/left, is to run a toss the opposite way.ChampDizzle wrote:I had someone use it on me a few times, last time they went right and I did a toss left, TD!
But if they pick right or left, i cant run up the middle, and if they picked run MID, i pretty much couldn't do anything, lol.

Re: New Features vs. Coaching Reports
I agree about the key run stuff.. obviously everyone has probably seen my dozens of post.. and I happy to say all my latest scrims I have not seen the key run feature used once.
Not sure if that is cause I would probably throw a shit fit if I saw it used.. since Im throwing the ball 50 times a game.. I Kid
But I agree I have not seen it used at all, and the amount of the user jump snap has decreased too..

Re: New Features vs. Coaching Reports
when asked about the key run stuff other than on short down situations...i.e 1 yard or less, tfan had this to say

for the pass and all the other features he had this to say:

for sixft who mentioned that it was line crashing on steroids.....no truer words have been spoken.
for our commishes and AJ, time to step up and declare Marshall law against this type of tactic.
So i have had a few 14's tonight (7 and 7) or (7up and Seagrams 7) forgive the delivery, hopefully the message was delivered.

Re: New Features vs. Coaching Reports
SUPERB POST!!!

Re: New Features vs. Coaching Reports
I used it quite a bit early. Had some pretty un-fun games and looked at it some more, but then I played someone that I regard as one of the str8est/sim players on Madden or NCAA and every play was the key run feature. Right then I started paying attention to it, and realized how stupid it is. Now, don't get me wrong, I think the feature is pretty cool, but it is definitely over done.
Now a little side note here. When this game first came out, I had just had a major back surgery, so I was on some pretty good pain meds. So alot of times I was playing I was pretty high...
And I may have had some conversations with others that I had, that I wouldn't normally have, so if you were one of those, and I know you will read this, I wasn't paying attention and I know what you were saying...
