New Features vs. Coaching Reports
Re: New Features vs. Coaching Reports
Corey, Shel, Hart, plasma, and Talented have all played me the past few days and I slant my line every play not using the key run feature just the regular old line slants (not sure the buttons but I think its L1 then the right analog stick) To them I guess it has not been cheese but have not asked them thats why I brought my question in here and most of you answered the way I was hoping you would.
I had been using jump the snap quite often and it was working well but guys like Nole got me to jump o then I turned it off. I will def keep all of that in mind.

Re: New Features vs. Coaching Reports
I agree on both counts. I like to play back but if I let a QB stand there for 15 seconds, that is my fault not his. If he runs, my fault not his. If that is the case, you switch to a LB or DL and attack the QB to force the action!plasma1896 wrote:qb runs
in regrads to nobody open and the qb sitting in the pocket.i was playing yragha the other night and my qb was sitting in the pocket for 15 seconds. im not lying on the 15 seconds because after the play yragha goes that was funny how long i sat there.he even told me i should have taken off. i have no problem if the middle of the field is open and everybody is covered. the problem is that people will complain or give a bad coaching report that he runs with the qb more then normal. well i think the problem is that the guy playing defense is worried he is going to get beat deep and is so concerned with it,that he is going to use the coaching reports/rules to help him stop the qb run. his thought is "ill drop my guys back and he wont run with the qb 2 times in a row". if you do then there goes your coachging report. hey i think its your job to stop it on defense and make sure that qb doesnt take off. if the middle of the field is open and i leave it open, take off on me. its my fault for not leaving a spy and trust me you have planted a seed my head that you will take off if nobody is open. so i will try to take away that option when i call my defensive plays.
L2 lINE CRASH
i have played alot of guys in the ndl over the last 3 weeks. i will tell you all this right now and im not bullshitting you.all the guys i have played, i have not seen the L2 line crash once(till last night and ill get to this) i have played a bunch of guys. so right there shows me what the league thinks of this new feature if nobody is using it.i was playing last night and i saw this play used for the 1st time against me 2 times. both inside the 5 yard line. 1st time i tried to run outside and got crushed. the second time i was going to run a toss and my qb was sacked as soon as he hiked it. you can play a entire game great and it just takes one time to ruin a entire hour of gameplaying when this play is used. i thinkits totally unrealistic and its a A.I. glitch in my eyes. its a nano blitz from back in madden a few years back. when you play me ,you can bet your house on it you wont be seeing this shit or the jump snap plays in our game. if you need to use it to win, then hope you feel great after the game, but i know win or lose that i played the game str8 up and i gave my opponent the best sim game.

I agree that if you are in the pocket, run with the QB, but if you roll out and than decide to run it becomes in a gray area. I usually will throw it away if outside the pocket.Nole4real wrote:whats funny is i thikn we're actually getting into a period of backlash over thrwoing the ball away. while i'll in NO WAY plan it....I think I'm gonna run next time im the situation (only scramble up the middle though)
again, not that i dock anyone for doing it vs me....i just never have but yea at this point and on this game is kinda unrealistic if u dont.
though i will limit myself to only once per game...after that im throwing it away

I thikn slant line is imperceivable. so id imagine its fine...i cant remember specfically but i tihkn i ran the ball "as normal" vs you...it was nothing overdone in anyway so id say it was fine.packsyD22 wrote:Corey, Shel, Hart, plasma, and Talented have all played me the past few days and I slant my line every play not using the key run feature just the regular old line slants (not sure the buttons but I think its L1 then the right analog stick) To them I guess it has not been cheese but have not asked them thats why I brought my question in here and most of you answered the way I was hoping you would.

the d line set to agressive isnt really that bad either....i could see someone bitter docking soneone for it in a loss though.
only think i hate about that is if the def is set to agressive on d line...they should be more easily drawn offside....ive had my own damn lineman jump offside 3 times on fake snaps and have only drawn one defense offside when they were set to agrr

true, good rule of thumb...if its the middle its defintely more ok...but if youve coasted outside....gray area for sure..just toss it away

i remember your guys were getting in fast on a few plays ,so i fake snapped it once and got a first down penalty on you and it was never a problem the rest of the game.packsyD22 wrote:Corey, Shel, Hart, plasma, and Talented have all played me the past few days and I slant my line every play not using the key run feature just the regular old line slants (not sure the buttons but I think its L1 then the right analog stick) To them I guess it has not been cheese but have not asked them thats why I brought my question in here and most of you answered the way I was hoping you would.

Re: New Features vs. Coaching Reports
You guys can blame me if Noley runs with his QB. We played our Cup game and in a definite pass situation I rushed 4 and his O'Line picked them all up and he just sat there in the pocket drinking his sweet tea waiting for someone to get open. So I told him to run the rock if nothing is open like that.Nole4real wrote:whats funny is i thikn we're actually getting into a period of backlash over thrwoing the ball away. Now we obviously are all in agreement that you shouldnt roll out and then take off, which I think its easier to go right up the gut, would you guys have an issue when you take off you get about 3-5 yards past the LOS then hit the sideline? I think that is more realistic.

please run it on me, if my guys can't get to you and your guys are covered. Run it, Outside, inside, whatever you have to do. As long as you don't run it right from the start (except for option), I have no problem with it. If someone runs it once, I will start using some sort of spy defense

Re: New Features vs. Coaching Reports
The aggressive line/user jump snap thing should not be banned, or "docked", for two reasons:
1) If you do it manually and guess the snap (right stick down), it shows up "user jumped snap"--problem is, it also says this if your line is aggressive. So if your line is on CONSERVATIVE and you time the snap right....the other person will see those words and think, he's on aggressive.
2) It can be countered, and not just by faking the snap. A lot of times, I've noticed that the CPU and humans get their jump best when I come up the line and just snap it, esp on runs. If you mix up the amount of time and delay your snap, it counters it. Get under center and wait five seconds one time, two the next, then fake the snap the next time...esp if you're at home, you'll see great results.
And if a guy is doing it a lot, that middle WR screen is a great way to make them think twice about rushing those defensive linemen upfield so hard. So are a few other plays. It doesn't always work, and it doesn't always make a difference, unlike the guess run. I only use the guess pass unless it's inside the three yard line, but that's only against the CPU. You won't see the guess run from me in league play.
As for QB running, I'm also on the list--I'd rather you run with it then throw it away ten times. As long as you're not rolling out and rolling out and waiting for everyone to go deep, and then taking off....but if nobody gets open and you're in the pocket, and you can get through the line, go for it. I'll see nothing wrong with that, it happens. But if you're doing it a lot from the get-go or on third down all the time, then you enter that grey area, but we're all mature enough to know what's legit and what's not.

Re: New Features vs. Coaching Reports
Man, I guess this has been on the minds of NDLers..posted this late last night and already 4 pages! Again, I'm with Nole that communication solves 99% of problems. Before you play, let your opponent know and that can save an hour worth of having fun blown by one or two disagreements. I like the fact that we are mature guys here (which sets us apart from the 12 year-olds in the lobby rooms). I like the fact this is not a hard and fast rule, but instead one that can be discussed and we can show that we respect each others' opinions on the field as well. If I ask a guy not to use the aggressive D-Line feature or not to slant/crash his line and he respects that and plays accordingly, then you better believe he deserves a 5-star report. I just hope that these features don't ruin the experience for anyone, and if they might, that their opponents are mature enough not to use them against their opponent.Nole4real wrote:
if anyone plays me or has played me and think ive used it too much, speak up and lemme know.
Here's a thought: post in your signed contract what you respect/don't respect as far as the new features are concerned, that way, guys can know ahead of time specifically what to/what not to do.

Re: New Features vs. Coaching Reports
This thread gave me a headache after page 2
Key Run Left/Right/Middle:
- Great feature addition to the game, but it's entirely over-exaggerated. It is line crashing on steroids. No different from shifting your line, with a crash in that direction, then moving a few guys closer to the action. I would like to see it used in moderation but honestly it's too much of a bloody mess when it's used period.
Line Shifts and Line Slants:
- First off, use in moderation. If every single play you come out of the huddle and immediately shifting your boys, I think its a problem. Don't get me wrong, sometimes your guys get all squirrelly out there and do their thing/glitch, but don't let this be your crutch.
- I'm cool with using one or the other, but don't use both at the same time. It's no different that the Key Run exaggeration.
Key Pass:
- I like this feature and I use it. In a league with people pass it seems 70% of the time, it's good to give the Defense an extra kick in the ass on what's to come. Think of the alternative, like last year, when you'd play someone and you know they were passing every freaking down. Better yet, you knew they were passing and you even knew where the ball was going, yet your guys played the snap no different on 3rd down as they would on 1st down. I think this feature is definitely balanced out and not an over exaggeration like the Key Runs
Chew Clock:
- I'm curious what the ruling will be for this one. I like the new feature, helps everyone get on with their lives all the while pushing through games that have foregone conclusions.
- On the flipside, when is the right time to use this? I posed this question before but I think people are still on the fence about it. Do you use it only under a certain timestamp in the 4th quarter? Maybe with only 2:30 minutes left or something? Do you use it when up 35 at any point in the game? What about when an underdog team is up at any point late in the game and they just want to escape with a win? Once you put it on, should you be allowed to take it off?....the list goes on

Re: New Features vs. Coaching Reports
Crashing EVERY play is gay and will get you docked in my book. If the situation is right then its cool. Some examples being if your opponent have been eating you up with his run game and your trying to guess where his run is going that's cool(using L1 not L2). Another might be if you wanna keep you opponent from rolling out on a obvious passing down but this being in moderation not every time there is a passing situation. Crashing for the sake of it to get pressure isnt gonna fly with me I know their are certain defensive plays that make you line crash and thats fine. Send a couple guys if you want to try and get some pressure while controlling a safety of linebacker to take away what his first read so you will be to make him take a couple more seconds so your blitz or rush can get to him. But like real life is his Oline picks up your blitz the dont be surprised if he get a big play its risk and reward. Expecting to get pressure all the time rushing four linemen isnt a realistic expectation.

Damn, I've noticed the opposite.Steamrollr22 wrote:Im with Bigree on this one...It is WAY TOO DAMN EASY to pass on this game. While it may be a little tougher than years past guys are just better and more used to the game now. I put up 405 yards(with over 100 on the ground) and lost because I couldn't force one punt against VT in the cup(my defense is rated an A-!!). If you cant generate a pass rush and you are playing someone good you will lose..bottom line.
Much like big'ree Ive tried playing more cover 1 and 2 man which in all reallity give you maximum pass coverage but good players will just pick it apart with time. I too have found myself playing more and more zone..(which I dont like because it is even easier to find the open man because some guys cover areas with no one in them..)
Man D seems to play a LOT better, but when I get torched in the passing game, it's usually when I play zone.
Probably 95% of my INTs come from man coverage.
Re: New Features vs. Coaching Reports
L2 slant is too over powering and Cheap IMO. I wont ever do it. There should be no rule against it but an unspoken rule will be in effect i am sure. You use it on me expect to see it reflected in your coaches reports.
