You don't think there would be an issue with a guy only playing hard when he has the ball or when a play is called for him?

Not playing any D, standing around when the ball isn't in your hands, as long as you're efficient when you do shoot the ball, that's cool?

Now granted, if we're talking about shooting 24 of 28, I do agree that the dude can do whatever he wants basically, and it's cool, but I know that's not exactly what we're talking about here lol.
Wade only plays hard, these days, when he has the ball. besides that he basically sleeps on the court. i'd take him 100 times out of 100 over a hard worker who tried harder than him but was less productive.

there are defensive metrics that analyze how your opponent does against you. i consider that part of being a great/efficient player.

How does Wade stack up in those metrics?

Oh, that and I guess the dude better hope he lands on a team with multiple HOFers to be afforded that luxury to loaf a lot.

you're just assuming players 'loaf' because they 'look' uninterested.

thats absurd.

you realize people said the exact same stuff about Lebron as well during his high school days. people said shit about Kyrie as well.

and one simple way to look at his defensive production would be looking at on/off metrics

http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... -off/2013/
http://www.82games.com/1213/1213MIA.HTM

which, by quickly glancing, says he makes the team a lot better defensively when he's on the court despite the appearence he's 'not trying'.

Now you're making a different argument.

The debate was assuming that what was said about him was so. If it is so, that's an issue, plain and simple lol.

Again, what do Wade's metrics look like? Not to be an ass, but whatever way you answer, you box yourself in.

Wait, which is it, is he sleeping on the court or not sleeping on the court when he doesn't have the ball?

And WTF, you're bringing up on/off? I brought that up last year to underscore Paul's worth, and you shot on/off down.

the media has no backbone lol

http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/eh-gam ... 56228.html

wiggins gets called the canadian jordan and canadian hoops is disrespected.he goes out, kills it, and speaks his mind in the most positive way he could via twitter, and then the guy from SI comes out today and says his shit was taken outta context. So predictable. Pathetic too

you're making my point for me... he doesn't 'appear' to give a shit. but eyes can be decieving. he's one of the best players in the league

these are the top 15 players in efficiency so far this season, as per PER

1. Lebron
2. Durant
3. Paul
4. Lopez
5. Duncan
6. Anthony
7. Parker
8. Wade
9. Amare (small sample)
10. Blake
11. Westbrook
12. Harden
13. Kyrie
14. Kobe
15. Drummond (low mpg)

the best players aren't loafing.... give me the best players.

False.

I actually brought it up spanning multiple seasons, showing Paul's on/off with NO and LAC.

You specifically said it was no good because having backups would distort those numbers.

C'mon man, keep up.

WEll yea, but your point is entirely different than mine, so it is irrelevant lol.

And I think DWade's halfcourt D is just fine. His transition D is pathetic, he is absolutely loafing in that department.

I agree, but we are having a conversation based on the assumption that it is true that the dude only tries when the ball is in his hand.

At least that is what I said from the very beginning of my argument.

Dave seems to be arguing something entirely different.

fair enough.

i'll take 5 D Wades and you can take 5 Kenneth Farieds and i'll win 100/100 times.

i don't care about a player 'loafing', a player being a 'locker room cancer', etc etc that stuff is opinionated, its biased and its blown out of proportion by media.

Russell Westbrook, by almost all accounts, is a horrible teammate. i'll take him over just about any PG in the league not named Paul/Kyrie.

Wiggins is touted as a generational talent. I've never personally been considered the best in the world in something so I wouldnt know how I'd react, but in a sport that is pretty 1 on 1 for the most part, and I'm the best in the world in my age bracket, id be bored too if I didnt have the ball. In fact, why wouldnt I have the ball? Arent we trying to win? lol

I haven't really watched much, if any, but man, he sure seems like a beast lol. Id still be happy with the Davis pick just based on the risk.

Drummond seems to be bucking that trend with those project type picks, seems like those guys rarely really pan out in the NBA.

Drummond's athleticism/size combo is far superior to any other project I can ever remember. The comparisons, to Dwight, physically, a definitely valid. I know a lot of people got on the Derrick Favors band wagon with a similar comparison, but it's really not even close there.
