I cannot believe I am agreeing with jsence.
I want to see guys mix the ball up and hit different receivers.
I do want to backup and say a few things from the 5 pages I just read through though, I see both sides of the discussion.
I completely understand where trendon is coming from about his gameplay with play actions and scrambles, etc. resulting in coaching report docks of points.
Shel, he was not saying that corey is going to dock him during this report, he was stating that in the past it has happened this way.
I think that the problem with it is that some of your opponents do not realize up front that you do play different than many people in the league.
I can think of Dak, last season with Rutgers, he let everyone know that he is running a different style of offense. When I played him, I knew to expect something different.
I had fun playing him and gave him all 5 in his coaching reports.
If I didn't read, up front, that he was running that style of offense, I would not have docked him, but I think many people would have, but for me, I treat it like Corey does, unless you are abusing something or going for it on 4th and 20 on your own 20, I don't care, but I can see how some people would think...I say think...that you are using play actions and scrambling and the option play a lot and many different things trying to take advantage of the AI.
I am not saying I agree with those people.
I think about the real NCAA. Every Saturday that I watch games, I see many different styles of gameplay. So I do think that we, the NDL as a whole, needs to accept that and allow people to play in different styles.
We need to really think about what is happening in the game.
Do you think your opponent is trying to get around the AI of the game or are they using different styles to mix things up?
I also do not believe trendon was trying to call out corey for passing over the middle a lot, but I believe he was using it to show the comparison between someone who most people feel is playing by the rules and straight up football (corey), compared to when trendon runs PA's and scrambles and screens and the option, etc. and how it is perceived as he is doing something wrong.
Now, on the flip side, trendon, you would not enjoy playing me. I grew up in NE Ohio watching the cold weather, ground and pound teams, so that is how I like to play.
Run the ball first, short passes when needed, a long pass only when a guy is wide open.
I never watched your game, so I cannot comment on it, but I think as far as stopping the pass over the middle, the biggest issue that I can see is that you are buffalo.
With a lower ranked team, it is harder to stop.
I am not trying to be a dick to you about buffalo, I am just saying that I think that is where some of your frustration comes from.
I would have to imagine that when you are playing a team that is at the same grade as your team I am sure your team stops the pass over the middle much more often than against a team that is rated better than yours that has better WR's.
