Once again goes to show some people don't do a single thing other than look at the voting aid and copy it, or simply throw votes out there...
Washington State goes 5-7 and receives votes.
Buffalo goes 1-11, gets votes.
Arizona State goes 2-10 (they even got votes in the MEDIA POLL!!!)....Ball State goes 3-9....
When are we going to start punishing people for blindly throwing a poll out there? One bad poll can cost someone a BCS spot, especially if their team is lower in the alphabet (since it seems like some people just randomly throw names on the list). I say unless someone can seriously defend their poll on some of these ridiculous votes, take away points, act like they never voted. They might as well have not if they aren't even taking 5-10 minutes to make sure they do it right.

I am with you on this and truthfully I have always said that coaches reports need to be proof read as well.
I went down two spots from the last poll in the Coaches Poll after finishing my last 5 games 5-0....I just dont get it :9.

Not yet, but I'm going to call some people out when I can.
That said, look at the "others receiving votes". I know some people don't agree with me much, but how can you disagree that this defeats the entire purpose of voting? If guys are just voting to get their draft points, DING THEM! Hit them where it hurts, and they'll start taking it seriously instead of simply spending 30 seconds on it!

Washington State got votes because the poll was opened before I finished the voting aid, and they lost like 4 of their last 5 games that didn't show up when the poll was first opened.

Which means people didn't do RESEARCH. That's my point.
They went by your previous aid and just moved guys over.
And VT, that's a bitch move by the coaches.

I guess I totally see where you are at with this if teams with way shitty records are getting votes not sure what that is about. But with saying that I have to admit I go with the voting aid as getting an idea, but I am a little worried that if the voting aid wasn't updated then I could have totally screwed up some votes and for that I am sorry. If that was the case I guess I am not sure why voting would have been opened before that was updated or why it was even visible...Again, I don't know if this happened in my case but I know I voted when I had time but used that a guide and records play a major key in where you fall in my voting.

First off, folks who fill out a voting form and they obviously did it just to get "credit" DO NOT get credit. For example, some one who just goes down a fills out a list in alpha order as you mentioned.
2ndly, People can vote how they want to, just as in real life, which is why this is a sim league. The ol Ball Coach always puts Duke in the top 25 to start out the year. If a coach doesnt like a certain coach, they wont vote them at all or vote them in the obvious spot they need to be ( like a number 1 team on every poll, but you have those 2 or 3 yahoos who vote for someone else). For example, I play AJ and he rubs me the wrong way and does not play me in what I feel is in the spirit of the NDL, I will knock him in the coaches reports and I am not going to vote for him in the polls. No different than real life.

TOTALLY AGREE with this...

I'm perfectly ok with that. Duke in week 1, sure... it really has no impact. If he did it in the final poll, he'd be ridiculed to no end. As for docking someone for cheesy play, again, I'm all for it. I think that's fair. But that doesn't justify a team with a losing record being put into the Top 25. I just means that 1 team is left off... not a list of 25 being completely screwy.

You can buy leaving a 10-2 team off the top 25, but not a 2-10 team in the top 25? Both on face value are stupid IMO, but folks have their reason for what they do. The buffalo thing is a silly inside joke I get that, but the main point is, people with a totally screwy vote DOES NOT get counted. If you wanna throw in 1 or 2 screwy votes on a top 25, its your poll, but dont do a complete top 25 of it.
We all vote different, just like we all play different, not everyone will agree with the votes.
But if teams that won TWO GAMES are getting votes in the top 25, there's no way to justify that.
I can see if someone made a mistake (and odds are, the Arizona State vote was a vote meant for Arkansas State, etc), but it just shows that people aren't even taking the time to double-check the polls.
