Respawn - TitanFall
Respawn - TitanFall
The first real news out of Respawn Entertainment (formally Infinity Ward). This move screams futuristic shooter to me. Between COD and Battlefield the military shooter genre is pretty saturated. Bungie had the futuristic shooter market on lockdown but they are rumored to be designing a MMO right now. So, this move by Respawn makes sense.

Respawn Entertainment, the company started by Modern Warfare creators Vince Zampella and Jason West when they left Activision, has signed renowned Star Wars artist Iain McCaig to work on its next game. McCaig was instrumental in creating the iconic characters for the most recent series of three Star Wars movies, including Queen Amidala, Darth Maul and a slew of others.
In an interview with Develop, McCaig categorized working with Respawn as “the most exhilarating experience I’ve ever had in my career."
As for what game McCaig and Respawn are working on, no one is talking, although the artist did say: “Whether it’s military games or things set in space, it doesn’t matter, my huge burning passion is in designing people." So feel free to read whatever you'd like into that.
Hopefully, we'll get a little more information soon... I don't know about you, but the suspense is killing me. I'm hoping Respawn announces something totally out of left field here, something no one is expecting. But even if it's a realistic military shooter, I have a feeling whatever the company releases is going to be huge. They are a company with something to prove, with scores to settle...

Re: Respawn
Respawn's game is a 'sci-fi orientated shooter'

.New title from the people behind Modern Warfare will 'compete' with Gears and Halo.
The secretive new game from Respawn Entertainment - the studio formed by former Infinity Ward heads Vince Zampella and Jason West - will be a "sci-fi orientated shooter," according to comments made by EA Games Label president Frank Gibeau in an E3 meeting this morning.
The revelation came as Gibeau chatted about EA's strategy in the lucrative first-person shooter market.
"In general we're going to continue to follow our rotation strategy of giving studios a full two-year cycle to get a game built and polished to maximum quality, but we're going to do it in a way that allows us to maximise technology investments like Frostbite 2, the online service models that we're doing... we're going to be able to trade team knowledge and increase the quality of the products year in, year out," he said.
"The idea is to have that rotation happen with Battlefield and Medal of Honor and keep it fresh so you don't burn the teams down or over-annualise the product lines.
"Titles like Respawn - and I think the Insomniac title is a little bit more of an action game than a pure shooter - we'll sprinkle those in where we see opportunistic gaps, either in a release schedule or in a genre standpoint."
He added: "Those typically are more sci-fi oriented shooters, where as the Medal of Honor and Battlefield brands are obviously more modern military oriented.
"So it allows us to pick and choose the best of the sci-fi shooters. It allows us to compete with things like Gears and Halo and put them on places in our release calendar where they're not cannibalistic to the core business and that's the essential strategy going forward."

Respawn will be at E3 with game in hand.
Re: Respawn
Rumor floating around that this game is an Xbox exclusive. No conformation either way yet.

It's ok.
New Xbox.

New Xbox.
Re: Respawn
Titanfall might be a timed exclusive and end up on the PS4 down the road.
One individual who put his two cents in regarding Titanfall’s exclusivity is Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb, the Director of Programming for Xbox Live. When asked on Reddit about the exclusivity status of Titanfall, and whether it would be a timed exclusive, heading to PS4 at a later time, or a lifetime exclusive, remaining solely on Xbox platforms, Nelson replied, “As far as being an exclusive that’s really a question for Titanfall – I’m not worried about it though.”

Not a big shooter guy but this looks pretty awesome.
I can see the little AJs having to wrestle this one away from dad on the XBOX1.

Re: Respawn - TitanFall
one thing I didnt 'like' when i was watching him play for a bit is that it seems they had to make the maps so large to account for the titans. thus each team (6v6) has like 12 bots on their squad in a normal game
lame

Re: Respawn - TitanFall
Is that a final build thing though? Maybe that was a BETA thing just make sure the server could handle it.ajalves wrote:one thing I didnt 'like' when i was watching him play for a bit is that it seems they had to make the maps so large to account for the titans. thus each team (6v6) has like 12 bots on their squad in a normal game

Re: Respawn - TitanFall
Yeah, the final build does include bots. The game is at most 6 humans vs 6 humans, the rest are bots.
