Volunteers needed

Post by Uuaww »

I asked holmey the other day what could be done to get the history of the ndl up to speed. Basically what needs to be done is a spreadsheet for every season that lists every game and score. in excel create 4 columns. home team, home score, away score, away team.

Using this we will be able to find out our lifetime records and scores against each coach... pretty cool.

I am currently in the middle of season 1 (ndl 1991). It will take a while though. What you do is go into massey ratings, click conferences up top, do the desired conference, then click the year you want. Anyone else wanna do other seasons? Takes some time, but if we have a bunch of people doing this, it could be done within a week.

I've gotten behind since the new game dropped and work has picked up but I have already done most of the Big East so you don't have to worry about them. I think I have every done but Syracuse and West Virginia. I will check when I get home from work and let you know.

What about coaches like me that were a mid season replacement. I was 5-4 after taking Syracuse and the team was 1-2 when I took over. Still hasn't been updated that way in my history.

I too was gonna start doing a spreadsheet to get this stuff updated until I realized the data would be off due to this particular scenario. Lots of unknown coaches in there too, and scores missing (albeit the winner and loser is shown).

Oddly enough, I think it was you that I replaced in Syracuse during season 13.

If you are a replacement coach, I say you accept the record of the former coach for all time, not just for that season. ;)

Don't think so. My first season was 15. :D

But back to the topic, I'd love to help cuz I'm a stat whore and would like to see this stuff. Soooo...Uuaww, if we start working on this, should we just by the coach as it's listed in the history under the team page for that season?

ok, here's the plan. Razorback is going to finish the big east, let him finish that and then razorback, don't do another conference. It is better to do a year at a time, that way you don't have to redo them for conference overlaps. Also it seems much more manageable.

Untouchable and tball, take seasons ndl 1992 (untouchable) and ndl 1993 (tball) in massey. You don't have to do the big east according to razorback. click on massey ratings (on ndl homepage), then click conferences and click any conference to start. then go to your year. in an excel spreadsheet do 4 columns. home team, home score, away score, away team.

i started with the acc, but by the time you get to the end of a conference, you are only adding 4-5 new games, that will become even less as you go on the conferences and the teams ooc games are getting done as well. If you have any questions aim me.

If anyone wants to take another year, do ndl 1994 etc. just post HERE that you are doing it so we don't accidently get someone doubling up.

uuaww is basically going in and adding scores so that you can look up and see how many times you have played a certain person, or a certain team, or see how you fair against certain conferences, etc.

all I need for the import is home team, away team, home score, away score.

existing team and season data will populate the rest

Ok so we don't have to worry about matching it with a coach, just put the team? Do you prefer the team in any format (i.e. Lousiana State, LSU)?

if you can, from the hall of fame, each team page is http://www.onlinedynasty.net/ndl2/teamP ... ?team=BALL

that is Ball State, and if you can put in the team=BALL part, the upload would be much faster

no we dont have to match it with a coach, holmeys programming does that.

I am using shortest names possible, but i dont' think it matters.

Just so I got this right, you want it just like this, or just the part after the equal sign?

Sounds good, I will try to get mine wrapped up asap.

It definitely did take forever because I was doing the same game twice most of the time. I like your way better now that I think about it.
