Rushing Gurus

Post by autiger730 »

Need some help. Been tryin out a lot of different running plays (I had no use for them last season) but haven't found a whole lot of running plays that are successful. Most everything I run to the outside gets blown up in the backfield, I have found very few inside plays I like. I'm not asking that anyone divulge their super secret strategy, but if you would like, PM me with some formations/plays you like/have sucess with/can get some consistent poaitive yards with, and I will return the favor in the passing game.

I ve found that if you just mix up your running plays that seems to work best. :D

I am by no means a rushing guru, but to me, it seems to be more about your offensive line and their blocking abilities.
If my line is good, they seem to get out in front of me and block for me or get up field and block for me.

Also, learn to be patient.
Stay behind your blockers.
Do not use the sprint button until you are in the clear.

That is all I got, sorry.

not the issue for me. I've been trying it all. I'm way behind in the running game. Didn't have the need or able players for it last season, so I kind of ignored trying to get anything going in that department.

thats the truth with CMU. Read what Niddler said, its important to be patient and follow the blocks.

Staying behind my blockers isn't a problem, it is getting past them.

You don't need a fast QB to run it, I've used it at Tulane and was top 15 in rushing with them.

Learn Read Options. Read the DE and if he stays at home, hand it off, if he cuts in, keep it with the QB. Read option is brutal once you learn how to read the DE.

Auburn was top 10 on my list this draft and last. If UC wasn't there last season, I would have taken them then. Frazier + Read Option = Awesome. The read is basically the same from any formation and works with jets / wr stuff too. Learn the option, have the powah!

reading the DE is much harder to do in this game than the past because there isn't as much time to decide to give or to keep, imo

I'm sorry let me put my gun away. Wouldn't have pointed at your head and forced you to give your input had I known you didn't want to.

no worries.

i think you're short changing yourself just stopping at just rushing tho... you should ask VT to do a complete game workshop for you, maybe he can map out your first 15 plays for you, show you how to control the CB and even drop a pimpin on a guy every once in a while.

I think with the run you also have to stick with it and not give up on it if your having trouble early. I have seen some games where the defense is just bulldozing my back early, and then later in the game maybe the def starts to where down and holes start to open up more. Also mix in some play action to keep players that use the backers honest.

Turning auto-sprint off helps, but does not help if you're one to immediately hammer R2 every run play like me. That defeats the purpose of turning off auto-sprint to help not get caught up on your linemen as often.

Notice how there is no help from anyone in the SEC???

I'd say it totally depends on what offensive style you have, but like others have said... Mixing it up (Inside/Outside), using the same look pre-snap but different runs off of that look, and just simply being patient and reading your blocks.

IceMorbid is a great guy to talk to about this if you're trying to run a conventional running offense. But if you are running the Zone Read Option, I'd be happy to offer some pointers. (I know I'm the new guy, but I know a bit about Spread Option Football)

Good Luck, bro
