No Extensions Until Arbi Eligible
Pretty simple here. The game is getting better at handling contract extensions early in players careers. That being said its still not great. Players will still accept ridiculous extensions when buying out their league minimum years. The idea here is that players wont be eligible for contract extensions until they're in their last year of league minimum salary and eligible for arbitration.
You can see if a player is arbi eligible on their contract page of their player profile.

Or as Billy clarified:
Just to make it easier to understand just say can’t extend a guy until they are in their 3rd season

What about Super 2 guys?
Re: No Extensions Until Arbi Eligible
Thats why I didnt phrase it like that.DRWebs wrote:What about Super 2 guys?

Its not as simple as saying 3 years.
Re: No Extensions Until Arbi Eligible
True but these are also more rare cases. I’d be fine with either but it does seem as you get in year 3 the contract look more like they do in real life when players do these dealsDRWebs wrote:What about Super 2 guys?

Re: No Extensions Until Arbi Eligible
The league has done great for 50+ seasons with the contracts. I don't recall anything changing in the 40+ seasons I have been here in regards to contracts. Why fix something that isn't broke?
Players 25 and under cannot be signed to any deal longer than 6 years max. The exception is if the player is in the FA pool.

Just because something has been around for 40+ seasons doesnt mean its not broke or cant be improved upon.

Explain and convince people on how/why it is broke or how it can be improved and you may sway some votes.Neurotic wrote:Just because something has been around for 40+ seasons doesnt mean its not broke or cant be improved upon.

I actually don't give a shit about this one, I figure it's replace the 6 year rule?

Most enjoy abusing certain aspects of this and will never want anything changed so yes it will be hard pressed to change anything at times in this league.Neurotic wrote:Just because something has been around for 40+ seasons doesnt mean its not broke or cant be improved upon.

I'm pretty sure I said how its broken and how to improve upon it in my first post.GeorgesGoons wrote:Explain and convince people on how/why it is broke or how it can be improved and you may sway some votes.Neurotic wrote:Just because something has been around for 40+ seasons doesnt mean its not broke or cant be improved upon.

So, give examples. You obviously have seen an abundance of these contracts to come out with a rule to get rid of what we have used for ever.Neurotic wrote:Players will still accept ridiculous extensions when buying out their league minimum years.

This is a valid question.Uuaww wrote:I actually don't give a shit about this one, I figure it's replace the 6 year rule?
I would say yes, it negates the 6 year rule if this gets implemented imo.
Re: No Extensions Until Arbi Eligible
To clarify, does this replace the 6 year rule we have now?

Re: No Extensions Until Arbi Eligible
Bob Long is iffy.
I think its fair but he could have made a hell of a lot more and can't see an elite closer ever signing that deal.
Warner Woods I can see a guy signing that guaranteed cash though he could potentially make more in the market.

Re: No Extensions Until Arbi Eligible
It was less than 5 years, who cares. At least Ramirez wanted to play in a winning organization. Not sure what the hell McBride was thinkingshel311 wrote:McBride in Sheltown did it better!!!Cnasty wrote:Roberto Ramirez in Boston
