2079 Beef
Pitching Staff
SP Bob Johnson
SP Don Higgins (L)
SP Alan Emery (L)
SP Kelsey Davis
SP Dave Brown (L)
CL Josh Stewart (L)
SU Christian Green
SU Mario Franco (L)
MR Bill Thompson
MR Aaron Marino
MR Jerry Owens
MR Javier Rodriguez
MR Juan Sousa
The pitching staff will determine whether this team is a Wild Card team or a Division winner. The upgrade staff this year includes FA Don Higgins, Rule 5 Aaron Marino and minor league callups Javier Rodriguez and Jerry Owens. We are gong to start Javier Rodriguez in the pen this year to get his feet wet with MLB hitters, but can slide into the starting rotation if needed. The team could really use one more #2 type pitcher to round out this team.
Starting Lineup
RF Carlos Gomez - Defending gold glove in RF last season. Looking to go 3 for 3 to start his career with another 30/30 season. Could compete for MVP.
Expected Season: .287/34/81
1B Terrance Stead - High contact rookie taking over the role at 1B. Should score plenty of runs if he can get on base.
Expected Season: .301/3/64
3B Jose Vidro - MVP his first season. We expect Vidro to step up his defense to completely round out his game. Should compete again for MVP.
Expected Season: .302/51/113
DH Bill Graves - Reigning HR champ should be at the top again this year. Could compete for MVP.
Expected Season: .263/59/114
2B Troy Hill - Newcomer from Miami. Should play decent defense and not hurt the team at the plate. Possible ROY candidate.
Expected Season: .269/25/88
LF Steven Yanez - Sure handed fielder who won't hurt the team at the plate.
Expected Season: .271/23/71
SS Brandon Padgett - Power, speed and fielding, that is all you get here. Should compete for most K's in the league. Another 30/30 season to come.
Expected Season: .173/41/83
CF Alonso Gabril - Should compete for a Gold Glove. You can expect close to 40 steals if he stays healthy.
Expected Season: .232/4/52
C Juan Saucedo - High contact and no power. Shouldn't have much pressure on him batting 9th.
Expected Season: .288/4/61
The bats will do just as well as last season and keep the Beef in games all year long. The departure of Bob Adams may hurt from a power standpoint in the offense but we expect Troy Hill to do well enough to justify cutting the budget by over $12M. Not sure if there is a more feared twosome than Vidro/Graves. These two should provide close to 110 HR's just by themselves.
Projection:
2077 - 64-98
2078 - 91-71
2079 - 97-65
We correctly predicted the 91-71 season last year. This year we are a little more hopeful and baring any injuries we should compete for the division title. I think we still come up short but will have the 3rd best record in the AL.
Postseason Projection:
Lose to Cleveland in the ALCS. I still don't think we are there yet to compete for a World Series title but with a few bounces in the right direction it is not out of the realm of possibilities.

Re: 2079 Beef
I always enjoyed reading the dynasty reports on the OOTP message boards so this is pretty neat to see. I am not sure if it's the whiskey or my old age but I think I read a first basemen projected to hit 3 home runs. Wow. The rest of the offense looks really good and the Smokies may be looking up at this team and the Double Dogs for a long time. Good luck this season my friend

He was drafted as a 3B, but plays 1B real well and has a high contact, especially against leftiesdustytwosacks wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 10:54 am I am not sure if it's the whiskey or my old age but I think I read a first basemen projected to hit 3 home runs. Wow.

Dusty beef will be good for 3 seasons not win a WS and rebuild for 8. We call it here the George Effect.dustytwosacks wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 10:54 am I always enjoyed reading the dynasty reports on the OOTP message boards so this is pretty neat to see. Re: 2079 Beef
It'll take a couple of lucky bounces for the Beef to make it to the World Series. We just want to make it to the ALCS, once there....who knows what'll happen
