Starting Pitching:
Starters finished the season with the best ERA in the AL.
Michael Chamberlain - Played great for the Beef last season after coming over in a late season trade. If his stat line is at least 80% of his productivity from last season, the extension will be worth it.
Alfred Ortega - Pretty disappointed in his performance last season. If we want to be the best team in the AL we need him to perform slightly better.
Colby Mills - Had a 4.20 ERA in honor of his owner last season. Need him to get below 4.00 this season in his 3rd year.
Will Clark - Over performed last season, or did he?!? His 2.85 ERA led the AL, we don't expect him to have that low of an ERA this season but we'd be happy as hell if he can be around 3.25 ERA.
David Berrora - Rookie lefty getting thrown into the mix. We did some salary shedding and he is getting the call up. May not be here long if we can find another pitcher on the trade blocks.
Bullpen:
Bullpen finished with the 3rd best ERA in the AL.
Castillo still anchors the pen. Not much turnover here, we did move Ryan Williams who pitched great but we needed to shed some salary.
Batting:
Led the AL in nearly all categories except for HR's. Team still lacks the pop we'd like to have but we adjusted our stadium to fit the teams speed and contact ability.
LF Alfonso Fernandez - Hit .342 and scored a league leading 123 runs last season. He once again will be the pace setter for this lineup. If he could limit getting caught stealing bases he could truly be an elite leadoff hitter (probably still is).
Expected stat line: .357/3/58\
Year end stats: .388/8/94
SS Rich Booth - Made a huge leap from his rookie year hitting .333 while playing elite level defense at SS. Moving him up in the lineup to take advantage of his ability.
Expected stat line: .329/2/52
Year end stats: .332/2/67
1B Terrance Stead - If he isn't a household name by now, you just don't pay attention. Lead the league in batting average(.394), OBP, WAR as well as set the MLB record in doubles (66) and tied the record in hits (259).
Expected stat line: .372/5/112
Year end stats:.380/3/69
DH Tony Perez - Brought in last year to add some pop to the lineup. Can hit for power and a decent average against lefties and righties.
Expected stat line: .273/34/108
Year end stats:.243/45/128
3B Mario Carrillo - Not the defensive guy I thought he was going to be, -8.8ZR last season. He needs to get that closer to 0 or he can find himself on the trade block. A pretty average year last season after a breakout season the year before.
Expected stat line: .312/21/85
Year end stats: .315/28/92
RF Steve Yanez - Showed surprising pop last season with 33 HR's. We don't expect that this season but anything over 20 will be nice. Would probably hit 3rd on most teams but is stuck down at #6 in this lineup.
Expected stat line: .307/23/93
Year end stats: .321/20/122
2B Hal Watkins - We wanted to see some improvement from him on defense and he went from a -6ZR to a -0.5ZR. Another boost in defense will be nice to see as well this year.
Expected stat line: .314/11/68
Year end stats: .349/7/83
CF Michael Krieger - Has not let us down after the Spann trade. Plays elite level defense in CF with a 22ZR over the last 2 seasons. A true 5 tool player.
Expected stat line: .307/22/91
Year end stats: .309/28/108
C Juan Saucedo - I said it last year and will say it again: An extremely underrated catcher in the league. Not many teams can get this kind of production out of their #9 hitter.
Expected stat line: .335/4/71
Year end stats: .322/9/78
Season Expectations:
If the team stays healthy this team can compete for a WS title. The pitching is improved and the lineup is exactly the same as it was at the end of the season last year. Obviously the lineup is the strength of this team and not many pitching staffs can handle the firepower from top to bottom. The team doesn't care if you throw out righties or lefties out there as they can hit them both at a high level.
Last season:
99-63
Lost in the ALCS 4-3 after being up 3-1 in the series. We really liked our chances against Bowie last year but just couldn't get past Moose Jaw.
Expected Record:
105-57
World Series or bust!
108-54
Regular season titles mean jack-shit
