If you had a to make a team without people that made into the Hall of Fame, what would you team look like?
For the sake of the argument I would take into account their whole career, but i would understand if people took only their guys career on their team, or maybe even a guys peak. I also only did guys that have retired already
1B- Jack Fothergill- Crushed lefties and also played firstbase well. 31 career WAR and 125 RC+
2B Kevin Meredith- thought I was a genius playing this guy at first while everyone had him in the outfield. 3 time allstar and had a liftime wRC+ of 128. passable defense at 2nd but nothing to hold a stick to.
3B- Mal Grady- Your mom's favorite bestball player. Career war of 69.5, 5 time allstar, 4 time gold glove winner and 3 time platinum stick winner. Should be in the hall of fame.
SS- Banks Young- a guy i named after my little brother lmao. 46 career war- was a hit first SS, but the glove passed at short. wRC+ of 120 over his career
LF- Mike Levya- big hitting leftfielder, lifetime wRC+ of 136, was an absolutely terrible leftfileder, but he crushed the ball.
CF- Cameron Cusack- easily the weakest position on the team, I seem to always have a revolving door of centerfielders, not sure why tbh. Was a defense first guy which this team would need considering how bad the other two guys are at defense on the corners
RF- Bill O'Rourke- rookie of the year and came second is MVP voting his rookie year. Absolutely crushed the ball from the day he was brought up to the bigs. career wRC of 132 and his STC wRC+ was 150
DH William McGee- 34.1 WAR over his career, but a lifetime .309 hitter with a WRC+ of 138. This guy crushed righties as well.
Starting Pitcher- Jesus Castillo- This was a tough pick, I was between him or Adam Wise. Wise had a bit longer of a career, but I think Castillo had a better peak.
3.53 ERA
54.1 WAR
Closer- Emilio Valdez- Honestly was much closer than I expected. Was between him, Marcus Moody and Vicente Aguilar.
I think Emilio had a slightly better peak than Aguilar, and was better in the playoffs for me than Moody. And some sentimental points.
Dude was money in the post season.
3.13 life time ERA and 1.84 ERA in the post season over 58.2 innings.
This includes 11.1 scoreless as a rookie- only allowing 4 on base
3 runs over 13 innings in our championship win in 2057
another scoreless run in our championship win in 2062 over 10 innings
