How many conferences have you played in (NDL)
I think Feisty and dub were trying to do this with me - bucking the jeffmo "dynasty" system and trying to hit every conference...is there anyone else and what is your number?
Im at 9 now and have 3 more. (WAC, MAC and Indy)
Post up if you're over 6 OR if you may try to "git-r-done"

Re: How many conferences have you played in (NDL)
With the style of this league, I'd be more impressed with someone who has 7+ seasons in only 1 conference...either they have stuck with a shitty team and a low win goal, or they dominate with a powerhouse. Moving around seems too easy

Yep, it IS too easy....or really that we still don't put enuff emphasis on keeping with the "dynasty" standard that Jeff created this league on. But it is what it has evolved into....does that sound intelligent? LOL
Also, I compare this league to a certain fast food chain. It USED to be, Kentucky Fried Chicken....but now they call it "KFC", so people aren't scared off by the word FRIED, and what it does to your body, in particular, your HEART!

This league used to be known as the NCAA Dynasty League, but now it's just "NDL", because the majority of people want to switch teams, from season to season (which I like to do as well, but try not to do it every season, to keep with the integrity of what this league was meant to be like).
That's why I've always felt that this league should be honest with itself and realize that it's no longer really a "dynasty" league. Quit giving so much credit to those that have success, and simplify things. If you're going to keep your team, great. That's why "dynasty" is in the name of the league. If you're going to leave your team, then it's into the draft and those with the worst record, pick first...and vice versa.
If you want to keep giving "extra credit" for participation, that's cool....but it doesn't need to be 20% of the grade, trim it down. Most people like to vote in the polls and most like to do recaps....and these people would probably keep doing these things, even if they don't get some meager points to move up a few spots in the draft! Points for success? Surprisingly, I'm NOT against this. It gives you something to shoot for, no matter how good or bad your team is. And it's definitely needed, when it comes to the power teams and not making it too easy for one person to sit with a great team, forever. But once again, it's given more importance than it deserves, SEEING THIS LEAGUE ISN'T BASED ON DYNASTIES, like it's supposed to be.
And the coach reports, a great thing, no doubt.....obviously we have to keep those. Many know that I'd like to see them be made public moreso (to REALLY make people look at their gameplay/defend themselves for what they do or not do), but that's a topic for another time.

So PTR, I agree with you. Kudos to those that try to have their own "dynasty", even if it's just for the three seasons that we're playing a particular version of the NCAA game. But unfortunately, this is not a dynasty league, even if it's in the name. And that's why we should either continue to make it more encouraging to stick with a team (which won't happen), or realize that this is more or less a regular league and should be drafting "worst to first", with minor adjustments to the draft order, utilizing the points being tacked on, from the three categories.
Yes, it's 11:30am cst and I've been drinking screwdrivers since 10am. And yes, you do hear less out of me when I'm NOT buzzing.

P.S. This is all for Noley, who must have some free time on his hands this morning, as I see he's been pretty active on the boards!

Re: How many conferences have you played in (NDL)
I totally disagree with this. People would be tanking games purposefully just to get the #1 pick (ie. San Antonio Spurs in order to draft Tim Duncan).Dr Tom Gordon wrote:If you're going to leave your team, then it's into the draft and those with the worst record, pick first...and vice versa.
I like the way the league is run. I might be a bit bias also just because I am one of those that prefers to run a TRUE dynasty.

Re: How many conferences have you played in (NDL)
Yeah its not about dynasties any more, I mean who the fuck would stay with one team for more than a few seasons
People do have dynasties. I have been with 1 team the longest of any coach in the history of the NDL and I will tell you I have seen multiple dynasties in the SEC. At least 2-3 seasons or more
WJ/Doodee at LSU
Tig at Ark
KY Shark @ KY
Tstep/Dawgit @ Au
Dray @ Ga
Big Mike and Foggy @Fl
Wes/Doc @ UT
Fact of the matter is, If players like Big Mike or Nole or Carl Wayne stayed at one place and it was a good team, they would win multiple national titles and folks would be pissed and complain that they always win cause they have a good team. So its a catch 22 if some folks dynasty. Then no one pays attention when a seeit is at Navy for multiple years, or a weasel is at BG, or a Crowes at Va Tech , or a ranDawg at Hou cause they arent playing for national titles. People like change, some get bored playing with the same team over and over again and can you really blame them? Its a big league, move around, keeps it from getting boring.
Worst to First draft?? Hell while we are at it, lets not keep score and everyone gets a trophy plus an ice cream.
Make Coaches Reports Public? Sure tom, and while we are at it, lets make these boards in to a total titty fit every day over game play. When it comes down to it Tom, its ones word vs another and its not going to do anything other than piss folks off. Remember we all think we are straight ( except for hoos who is totally gay).
This League is what you make it, plain and simple. This league to me has been a great 4 or 5 years, made lots of friends who I play multiple games with, I still enjoy great football match ups with guys who stay at one place or who move around, it really doesnt matter.
