Goaline Question.....

Post by texasfan4444 »

GOAL LINE -- Goal Line Formation is for Goal Line (inside YOUR OWN or YOUR OPPONENT’s 10 yard line) and for SHORT YARDAGE (3rd/4th down and 3 or less) ONLY.
The Florida PB under goalline has several formations (Maryland I and Wishbone Tight) all within the Goaline package. Now... these formations exist under other more proper categories in other playbooks but are outfitted to the Goaline set in this and other PB's.

I'll get to my question....I'd like to throw the Wishbone and the Maryland I(each has @4 differerent plays) into my playcalling on not just short to go downs but also as a change of pace formation for first or second downs...

Is that abusing the Goaline rule above?
Would that be frowned upon - like masturbating on an airplane?
What would you think about when grading this tactic on coaches reports?

Your input would be appreciated. Keep in mind these are formations that exist under "non-goaline" packages in other PBs.

Is there another playbook that has the Maryland I formation? If so where can I find it? I would love to be able to use this formation for some running plays

There is a power run playbook? I use Nebraska's playbook and I have used Northern Illini's twice in some scrims

I dont think I have the balls to do it. I need a team with a good FB and I havent put my work in for this draft so I'll use whatever playbook that helps me win 3-5 games.

Using the tool, it came up with this George

Option Run: 3 Wishbone formations
Balanced: 1 Wishbone formation, 1 Power I formation, 1 Jumbo T formation

Balanced also has great offset I formations plus two solid I-forms.

I know USC and the Michigan State playbook also have the Maryland I formation both with a variety of plays not just the ISO. Some of the playbooks if you look in them they only have the ISO or Power O play but I know these 2 have more like the toss and so forth.

I'd check out the run balanced and run heavy playbooks.

Florida has this as well for the MD I - THe toss, power, screen and PA pass
Then on the wishbone tight it has a FB dive, option, PA pass and Power.

Is that just in the goal line playbook though?

What is the general consensus on using the goal line playbook on other than 3rd and 4th and short when using the Maryland I formation? Me personally wouldnt mind someone using it on 1st or 2nd down if they are trying to establish the run.

The playbook i think im gonna use this season(balanced) has the double tight wishbone as a regular formation. Dont see anything wrong with using a formation like that, just wouldnt like to see someone whole offense with it.

I utilize the Maryland I on 3rd and shorts and such, dont see why it would be an issue.

Yeah not the formation per se, i guess the main question was the fact that in this PB its technically under the "Goaline" packages. But sounds like it should be an issue from what i am reading above wich is stellar!
