Bitter Rivals (Block 3)

Article By: NCAA Dynasty League

The third block of NDL Season 20 features two MEGA rivalries, so this week instead of focusing on just one we take a quick look at both.

MARQUEE RIVALRY

No. 6 Miami FL (3-0) at No. 10 Florida State (4-0)

Two of the NDL's winningest coaches meet in the NDL's most played rivalry.

THE HISTORY

Total Meetings: 22

Series Record: Miami 14-8

Longest Streak: Miami (S2-S7)

Active Streak: Miami (S16 ACCCG-TBD)

Last Meeting: Miami 27, Florida State 14 in Season 19

The Hurricanes and the Seminoles have meet three times in the ACC Championship making this the most played rivalry in NDL history and they may very well meet for a fourth time this year to determine the ACC.

Though, this rivalry has been one-sided with Miami dominating Florida State over the years. Of the three ACC Championship Game meetings Miami has won them all. The most impressive run of victories in this rivalry came with Miami beating Florida State every time they played from season two to season seven including the season four and season seven ACC Championship Games.

PREDICTION

Jacory Harris does not make mistakes, throwing seven touchdowns to no interceptions after three games. The Florida State Seminoles defense will be his biggest challenge to this point of the season with the swarming speed and the home field advantage of Doak Campbell Stadium.

With Florida State not having played anyone of Miami's caliber and Miami having already played a team on Florida State's level, look for that experience to give the 'Canes an edge and allow them to continue to dominate this rivalry.

MARQUEE RIVALRY

No. 15 Oklahoma (2-1) vs No. 8 Texas (3-0)

Texas and Oklahoma will meet up in Dallas to determine to early front runner for the Big XII South.

THE HISTORY

Total Meetings: 19

Series Record: Oklahoma 10-9

Longest Streak: Texas (S6-S8), Oklahoma (S13-S15)

Active Streak: Oklahoma (S18-TBD)

Last Meeting: Oklahoma 24, Texas 17 in Season 19

Oklahoma and Texas share three NDL Championships between them and seven Big XII Championships. It is rare you see neither Texas or Oklahoma represent the Big XII South in the Big XII Championship Game but last year it was Texas A&M that went with the Longhorns and Sooners sitting at home. This season sees to very focused squads clash and the winner could not only have a leg-up on the rest of the Big XII South but could launch themselves straight into the National Championship picture.

PREDICTION

The Oklahoma Sooners have been involved in six overtime periods already this season, that will bode well for the players and the coach if they get locked into another tight one against Rival Texas.

While Texas comes at you with a ball control offense look for Oklahoma to continue the momentum of their big overtime victory over Boise State and collect their second win over a top ten team this season, but lower scoring than their other games.

Texas misses the chance to tie one of the most balanced rivaries the NDL has seen.
