With several young up and coming video game coaches on the horizon, the University of Washington stunned the NDL world as it hired a washed up has-been NDL vet named "Doodee" as their new head coach on Tuesday. His opening press conference left the virtual fan base uninspired.
"I probably shouldn't even be doing this," he said. "First of all it's been fifteen years since I even played a football game online, and I have two kids that need a lot of help with homework. But I just got so excited when the new game came out, I just couldn't help but dip my toes in the water, and here I am. My wife says she's happy for me...but we'll see."
The coach admitted he has some catching up to do on the technology front.
"Somebody said something about twitch and discord, and I didn't know what the hell. Those sound like symptoms at my age. Anyway, those things weren't around when I was in my younger years. But you have to learn and adapt. Maybe we'll win some games."
Fans were not impressed.
"Good lord," said one.
"If they were going to get an old timer, there are still some out there better than this," said another, without naming names. "I mean, how can this coach win with no Penix?"
"I know the fans are nervous," said Doodee. "I am too. I probably suck. But who knows, maybe we can just have some fun. Penix or no Penix."
