Block 2 Games of the Week

Article By: Wasted Memory

Week 3

In what promises to be a compelling matchup, the Kansas Jayhawks will go head-to-head with the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Jayhawks have shown strong performances in the early part of the season, while Alabama is eager to make a statement in this high-profile encounter. Both teams bring intriguing elements to the field, and this game could be a defining moment for both programs.

Kansas Jayhawks:
Jalon Daniels (QB #6): Daniels has been impressive with his dual-threat capabilities. He has completed 9 of 11 passes for 130 yards and 2 touchdowns without any interceptions. His efficiency in the passing game is matched by his performance on the ground, where he has rushed for 79 yards and 2 touchdowns on 7 attempts. His ability to avoid turnovers and make plays with both his arm and legs makes him a key player for Kansas.
Quentin Skinner (WR #0): Skinner has been a reliable target for Daniels, catching 2 passes for 47 yards and 1 touchdown. His 10 yards after the catch (YAC) indicates his ability to gain additional yards once the ball is in his hands. His solid performance so far will be critical in Kansas’ offensive strategy.

Alabama Crimson Tide:
Player Insights: At this point, Alabama has been unable to showcase any statistics for their players. However, given Alabama’s less than impressive beginnings to the season it would be safe to assume it should be a fairly easy W for the Jayhawks. However, Alabama has seemed to improve in play based upon their Beefy Cup play, it's reasonable to expect that they will field a competitive team with formidable players ready to make an impact.

Key Matchup:
The game will largely hinge on how Kansas' Jalon Daniels can handle Alabama's defensive schemes. Daniels' ability to balance passing and rushing will be tested by one of the most feared defenses in college football. Meanwhile, Alabama’s ability to adapt and execute, despite lacking detailed stats, will be crucial in containing Daniels and making their own offensive moves count.

Prediction:
Kansas will need to leverage their offensive efficiency and capitalize on every opportunity, particularly through Jalon Daniels' dynamic playmaking. Meanwhile, Alabama will rely on their typically robust defensive unit and coaching prowess to neutralize Daniels' impact and assert their dominance on the field.
Kansas remains undefeated

Week 4

Tough call this week with several HUGE games on the slate. Arizona State at Texas Tech, Baylor at Colorado, and Kansas at West Virginia, my personal favorite but I'd hate to feature the same team in back to back weeks.

But without further adieu, as the Baylor Bears prepare to face off against the Colorado Buffaloes, fans can expect a high-octane matchup featuring two dynamic offenses and standout individual performances. Both teams have shown impressive playmaking abilities, and this clash promises to be a thrilling display of skill and strategy.

Baylor Bears:
Dequan Finn (QB #12): Finn has been exceptional under center, boasting an impressive 739 yards on 32 completions from 47 attempts. With 8 touchdowns and no interceptions, his performance has been nothing short of stellar. His ability to avoid turnovers and convert crucial plays will be pivotal for Baylor.
Richard Reese (RB #29): Reese has been a reliable force in the backfield with 149 rushing yards on 18 carries, scoring 3 touchdowns. Despite not having any explosive runs or significant breakaway plays, his consistency and ball security have been key to Baylor's success.
Monaray Baldwin (WR #80): Baldwin leads the receiving corps with 464 yards on 13 catches and 2 touchdowns. His 10 yards after catch (YAC) reflect his ability to make plays after the catch, though his 2 drops indicate room for improvement in securing the football.

Colorado Buffaloes:
Shedeur Sanders (QB #2): Sanders has been highly efficient, completing 12 of 18 passes for 221 yards and 3 touchdowns without any interceptions. His accuracy and ability to find the end zone will be crucial in challenging Baylor’s defense.
Kavosiey Smoke (RB #8): Smoke has demonstrated solid all-around performance with 142 rushing yards on 16 attempts and 1 touchdown. Additionally, he has been a threat in the passing game, contributing 66 yards on 3 receptions and another touchdown. His 62 YAC highlights his effectiveness in making plays after the catch.

Key Matchup:
The showdown between Dequan Finn and Shedeur Sanders will be a focal point, as both quarterbacks have been prolific in their respective passing games. Finn’s extensive yardage and touchdown count will be tested by Sanders’ efficiency and precision.

Prediction:
This game is set to be a high-scoring affair with both teams showcasing their offensive prowess. Baylor's Finn and Baldwin combination will need to capitalize on every opportunity, while Colorado’s Sanders and Smoke will look to exploit any gaps in the Baylor defense. Expect a close contest with both offenses making significant impacts. The team that manages to execute in critical moments and control the tempo will likely emerge victorious.
