In a thrilling turn of events during Game 3 of the NDL Beefy Cup, the San Diego State Aztecs secured a significant victory against North Carolina, finishing with a score of 48-33. Despite facing an early deficit, including a challenging 14-0 start that featured a pick-six, the Aztecs showcased their resilience and strategic prowess to clinch the win.
The game began with a series of setbacks for SDSU, but the team quickly re-calibrated and dominated both sides of the ball. The Aztec defense was exceptional, restricting the Tar Heels to 33 points (our lowest total allowed for the season) and intercepting four passes, which played a pivotal role in stifling North Carolina’s offensive efforts.
Quarterback AJ Duffy delivered a standout performance. His effective playmaking was a key factor in the Aztecs’ ability to mount a successful comeback and secure the victory.
This win put the Aztecs at 2-1 in round 1 of the Beefy Cup. As they continue their journey, the team will look to build on this momentum and further solidify their standing in the tournament.
