Kent State TE Hayden Junker secures the score over ODU's Angelo Ran

Kent State Defends Their Home vs. ODU

Article By: Zondoe

KENT, OHIO - Coming off a big win over a Power 5 school, Old Dominion came back down to Earth as they fall to Kent State 34-21. The Monarchs looked out of sorts and couldn't get a steady rhythm going this game.

Kent State's QB Tommy Ulatowski was a general on offense and ended up with 302 passing yards on 20 completions. Old Dominion could not cover Ulatowski's favorite target, WR Crishon McCray who ended up with 7 grabs for 83 yards and 1 TD. RB Gavin Garcia also pounded the rock well as he had 130 yards on 19 attempts.

Old Dominion's workhorse RB Aaron Young seemed to be the lone bright spot for the Monarchs offense as he compiled 234 rushing yards on 26 carries and 2 TDs. Young also pulled in 7 receptions for 61 yards. A timely Young fumble turned the momentum of the game in Kent State's favor and the Golden Flashes did not look back.

The Monarchs will look to refocus and rebound with their home opener for the season against another Ohio school, the Akron Zips.
