Conference USA Welcomes Returning and New Coaches for the Upcoming Season
Conference USA is gearing up for an exciting new season with several teams welcoming both seasoned and new coaches to the fold. The mix of veteran leadership and fresh talent promises plenty of drama and competition on the field. Let’s meet the coaches who are returning and joining for the upcoming season:
Returning Coaches:
Coach PhoneyBadge1 made a massive splash in his first season at Liberty, leading the Flames to an impressive 11-3 record. His success included a bowl game victory and a strong showing as runner-up in the Conference USA Championship. PhoneyBadge1 is set to build on that momentum and aim for even bigger accomplishments this year.
Coach OldSchoola, a coaching veteran who's been around “since Christ was a Corporal,” led New Mexico State to a solid 4-4 conference record. However, the Aggies struggled in non-conference play, posting just one win and finishing with a 5-7 overall record. Look for OldSchoola to sharpen up the OOC schedule and continue the Aggies' progress.
Coach WastedMemory returns to Western Kentucky after a rough 2-10 season. While WKU may have been the lowest-rated team in the conference last season, WastedMemory has a proven knack for turning teams around. Watch out for his efforts to lift the Hilltoppers back to relevance this year.
New (Old) Coaches:
Coach Outlaw, a 28-season veteran with an incredible overall record of 256-111, brings his coaching pedigree to Middle Tennessee. Outlaw is known for his consistent success, and he’s setting his sights on the Conference USA championship in his debut season at MTSU. With that kind of experience, expect big things from the Blue Raiders.
Coach Old Ky Shark takes over at Sam Houston, bringing a wealth of experience after being in and out of the league since Season 3. He’s looking to regain the dominance that made his Kentucky dynasty so tough in Seasons 6-7 and again in Seasons 14-17. With his proven record, Sam Houston might just be the perfect place for his resurgence.
Coach Knubb enters his 6th season with the league, boasting an almost .500 record. Now taking over at UTEP, Knubb aims to prove that everything is indeed bigger in Texas as he looks to elevate the Miners and make a serious push in the conference.
Second-Year Coaches:
The second-year group consists of Coach ChilliChill79, Coach Klawdog101, Coach AwesomeAndrewYa, and Coach Sgt_Lingus330. These four coaches enter their sophomore seasons with a combined record of 9-20. All but Coach Chill were midseason replacements last year. The unknown factor looms large with this group, so no one should sleep on their ability to surprise.
As the season approaches, Conference USA is buzzing with excitement, and the competition is wide open. Who will rise to the top? Can the new and returning coaches shake things up? We can’t wait to find out!
