5. LSU – The Tigers are roaring into the season as they kept coach Bucknut33 on board. Why
wouldn’t they, the first-season coach went 12-3 in the regular season and finished with an overall
record of 23-5. The Tigers went 7-1 in conference last season and will need a repeat
performance to get to the CFP. The Tigers OL is what I’d call “nasty.” They’re a talented bunch
that will dictate to any defense in the SEC. When I think LSU I’m all about speed and this WR
corps is 90-98 with all 12 players so good luck to the secondaries they will play. We here at the
SEC Media feel we may be slighting LSU a bit at number five as they have a proven track
record. Player to Watch: LOLB Harold Perkins, Jr. This is one of the best defensive players in the
SEC and the anchor of the Tiger defense. Prediction: 9-3 (we’ll see if the downgrade motivates the Tigers this season).
6. KENTUCKY – The Wildcats seem wildly overrated in the game especially on D (a 90 –
bruh!!!). They have their challenges but coach Eljefebigrump turned the Temple program around
last season. A 13-1 regular season for the first-year coach along with an overall record of 17-2.
He’ll need to ball up some of that magic this season. We here at the SEC Media have the Cats up
there in the standings but we’ll have to let it play out to see if the Cats can pull out a few upsets
before we start a party in Lexington. Player to Watch: Junior QB Brock Vandagriff. This QB has to be able to get the impact due of
WR’s Dane Key and Barion Brown the ball. Both are deep threats that can stretch a defense out. Prediction: 9-3
7. TENNESSEE – Coach jgarvin1992 returns to Vol nation after a 9-4 run. The first year NDL
coach finished with an overall record of 15-7. I’m really torn on this team as I’m not impressed
by their back seven on D or their OL. They’re really going to have to play mistake free football
in big games to get to the eight-nine win range and I fully expect this season to be more difficult
than last year. Don’t get us wrong, the Vols have some solid talent but they also have some
glaring weakness where other teams are much better position wise. I got this as an uphill battle
for UT and they’re carrying a full combat pack, stretcher, and SAW. Player to Watch: The entire defensive line Prediction: 8-4 (feeling this may be too high right now and 6-7 is more likely).
8. OLE MISS – Boy, it’s tough putting some of these very talented teams so low on the pecking
order but here we are. The Rebels hired fsupenguin this offseason and the 29-year NDL vet has
a overall record of 274-175. The Ole Miss D really takes a big hit for the team as we would not
exactly call them SEC speed worthy. When all else fails on D you have to keep scoring but one
major issue for the team is a weak offensive line. That won’t give their QB a ton of confidence if
he’s face first in the ground every time he drops back. FSU will need to work the kinks out in a
hurry as the SEC schedule isn’t going to wait on him to find his stride. Player to Watch: Senior QB Jaxson Dart. Dart’s arm will likely carry the load within this
offense. He’s a talented QB who has eight badges to his name and weapons to make him look
even better. Prediction: 7-5 (this may be a little high depending on the play of the OL).
