Coach Rags - Q & A

Article By: Yragha

**Q: What's your name?
A: Duh, it's Yragha. Ohhhh, you meant..... got it, it's Gary, but most in the world of video game football just call me, Coach Rags.

**Q: How old are you?**
A: Old enough that I used to get home delivery of the Houston Post newspaper. I’m 50.

**Q: What is your hometown?**
A: I hail from Houston, TX.

**Q: What are your favorite sports teams?**
A: I’m a big fan of the Houston Cougars! I had season tickets for nearly 20 years for football and 10 years for basketball til my work schedule no longer made that a practical investment. My first season following the Coogs was in 1984 during the tail end of the Veer era.

I was also a fan of and miss dearly the Houston Oilers and their iconic "Luv Ya Blue" era. My first memory of the Oilers was, ironic or not with QB Archie Manning under center. Man, were those some humbling years.

I'd be remiss, if I didn't say something in regards to the Houston Gamblers—the real Gamblers from 1984 and '85 with Jim Kelly and that exciting run & shoot offense. Those were the days!

Oh and one more memory, Joooooooseeeeeeeeee Cruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuz!

**Q: How many seasons have you been in the NDL?
A: Without going back to look it up, I'd guess it was close to 10, if not more. Not all consecutive but I've been here awhile.

**Q: Are you really a native Houstonian?**
A: Absolutely! Show of hands, who remembers our Arena Football team, IF you do then you deserve a banana sticker. We had the Texas Terror, followed by the Houston Thunderbears, where Clint Dolezel was our quarterback.

**Q: What’s your favorite food?**
A: Tex-Mex and a good margarita without a doubt. Sopapillas too!!!

**Q: Have you ever played athletics?**
A: Does skinning my knee on the concrete count? I spent countless summers playing sandlot football and basketball—I've got the scars to prove it! To answer your question (actually mine) - NO, I was not abundantly blessed with that gene, although I feel I can hold my own (on most days) MUCH like on the video game gridiron.

**Q: What do you do for a living?**
A: I've spent over 20 years working on the railroad, and I've also dabbled in radio for nearly 10 years. Nowadays, you can hear me giving traffic updates all over Texas and Oklahoma thru the magic of radio during your morning or afternoon commute as I try and get you where you need to be, BECAUSE we all know TRAFFIC SUCKS.

Before that, I was a railroad conductor—yeah, the one you cuss at, who occasionally blocks the railroad crossing for 10-15 minutes. It's not on purpose, believe me.

**Q: How long have you been playing the NCAA Football video game series?**
A: I’ve been playing it since 2003.
