Sun-Mountain Clash Preview
Article By: Two Group of 5 confrences have agreed to take their teams into battle for superiority in this mid-season challenge. The Sun Belt and the Mountain West will play games throughout the week to determine which confrence reigns supreme as we approach the half way mark of NDL Season 30. All games will be neutral field, played at the College Sponor Stadium. With all eyes on Kansas and Notre Dame (my personal preseason NDL30 championship prediction), the small schools have decide to form an interesting twist to their schedules. While the participation will not be immediately rewarded or counted towards any NDL stats, these users are still intrigued at the idea of taking part in war to defend their confrence.
Tonight will kickoff the first of ten games played between the two confrences. Coach Carr/FLman and his Troy Trojans had a hand in throwing the event together, they are slated to battle San Diego State with kickoff set for 11:30pm est.
Coach BigZZ has the San Diego State Aztecs (5-0, 1-0) firing on all cylinders early into the season. While an even later start time is scheduled for Arkansas State and San Jose State, 9pm pst/Midnight est. Longtime Rutgers and current Red Wolves Head Coach, and Season 1 veteran,
Coach Dakshdar will be defending the Sun Belt against NDL newcomer
Coach Vic and his San Jose State Spartans.
Vic got off to a rocky start as an interim last season (1-5 at Miss. St.), but after receiving his new contract, moving across Country and setting the standards to his desire, his team is 3-0 with two early confrence wins including a 35-0 route of Air Force. Another few key matchups to keep an eye on include Fresno State vs Texas State and Boise State vs Sun Belt Commissioner.
With only 8 teams ready to play in the Sun Belt, the confrence commissioner has decided to step in to fill the gap provide by the vacant teams.
Coach RB, currently know for being the Wisconsin Head Coach and vital media member of the NDL, will pick a Sun Belt team from the remaining field of teams that are not participating.
RB will need to choose wisely as he faces an expected heavy workload from Ashton Jeanty and the Broncos.
Coach iRoccafella in his 14th NDL season, sports an 107-91 (54%) career record but an exceptional 7-3 record in Bowl games. With this game being compared to an In-Season Bowl game will
iRocc and the top rated Mountain West team be able to defend against RB's mystery team?
Fresno State
(Coach Giver) and Texas State
(Coach Revere), both projected to finish at or near the top of their respective confrences in preseason polls, are combined 2-6 in regular season play this year. Don't let their season records cause you to forget to tune into this game as Malik Sherrod vs Ismail Mahdi could very well be the best toe to toe, ground and pound game we've seen from either of these confrences all year.
Don't look now,
CHEE PONO has entered the Clash, the Hawaii Warriors will take on Georgia Southern. Georgia Southern is already 0-1 in the regular season against MWC teams, could this be bad territory for the Eagles?
Coach Sammy and the New Mexico Lobos came away with a 31-24 home win over the Eagles in Week 3. Can Hawaii put another speed bump in the road for
Coach Lambchop and the Georgia Southern Eagles who are off to a 1-3 start on the season. If
Lambchop can get his team turnovers down they may stand a chance, otherwise the Mountain West will be thanking the
Jeffdaddyand
CHEE PONO for another win in the Clash. New Mexico and
Coach Sammy will take on Marshall.
Coach Neal and the Thundering Herd are active but they'll need more than just practice as the Lobos are 4-0 with an aforementioned victory over a Sun Belt team already.
Air Force and Louisana were also late entrants into the contest, that game will take place along with a potential shootout between James Madison and Colorado State. Coastal Carolina will look to defend the weaker Sun Belt in any way they can against the Nevada Wolfpack.
